    End to exp?

Am I alone in being very concerned about plans to level your characters via quests rather than grinding for exp?
At the moment if I want exp I can solo, I can duo or trio on harder mobs or I can enter a big party and go up against tougher mobs, each method requiring me to play a little differently. I can do it in a variety of zones against a variety of mobs.
If we have to level via quests they will need to be soloable to cater for players who like to solo, and the difficulty of the quests will have to allow for all skill levels. Won't this reduce the ability to set how challenging you want to make the game for yourself? I'm also concerned some of these quests will be more of the disappointing just criss crossing the world between cutscenes. It certainly seems to me that it will make the game more linear and less free roaming, which is a big part of the attraction of an mmo.

Not sure what you mean... If you mean jobs, they're more of a specialization (think talent tree), they just have quests to get new abilities and stuff exclusive to the job.

In 2.0 we will advance our classes via quests rather than by exping.

I think Yoshi has clearly stated that he intends to make more then one way to play this game, he has said there will be both solo and party content. If doing quest to gain exp isn't your thing you can always group up and go fight mobs, thats why they implemented chains and links.

"Jobs to progress by clearing quests rather than gaining EXP.", these are the exact words used.

Jobs are not class remember that he mean that Jobs would level because there part of the class. So to level up your Class you have to go out and party and let's say your a Monk to unlock new spell,WS and such you do quest.

If your a 35pug and equip monk you now a 35monk if your a 50 conj you become a 50 white mage.

So to level up your job in the sense of getting better you have to level up your class by what you doing and level up your job by doing quest to unlock AF,Spells and other stuff.

Advance job, not classes. You still XP to get your class up, while doing quest to unlock more job ability (sorta).

ahhh. Seems I misinterpreted it. If it's just a matter of questing new ws and whatever then that's entirely different. Ignore me I'm an idiot.
