Pretty sad that on Christmas people that really wanted a house were forced to camp for hours on end to get one when most people still couldn't get one after all that. This whole deal of people being able to buy multiple plots and resell them at a crazy price is absolutely ridiculous. I'm very surprised that SE would allow that.

Tommy, you and I are on the same server, we went through the exact same thing today, and we have both been here since 1.0. I pre ordered this game on its original release. Over the course of the last 13 months my wife and I have been saving for a house. Square-Enix has failed miserably with housing in this game. I have played many MMO's, and never have I witnessed such failure in a housing system in any other game. I am not going to unsubscribe, but I am disappointed beyond what any words could possibly express. For what I thought was the greatest RPG gaming company of all time? You don't even come close anymore Square-Enix. . .

I can feel for OP since my end game is housing as well. I strongly suggest you to consider server transfer, unless you want to play blame game with SE

The biggest problem with a serverjump for a house is the money transfer. Going to extremes you saved up for a large house and consider jumping to a lower populated server for your house. You would have to buy all sorts of items to take with you to move that money in the first place. Problem with low population server is mostly a lower economy which could have you end up with a lot of money loss when reselling those items on the new server. Not to even mention the time it takes to sell so many items worth 70 mil (large house example considered). By the time your stuff sells the plots are gone. So all in all... this whole thing just sucks :/ I don't understand the problem they have with PS and server capacity or whatever it is to not make just another subdivision. 760 plots more just like that. Someone can explain ?

Transfering server isn't really a solution:
- First, there's the money loss issue
- Second, well, many people are playing on EU servers as they are EU residents. And they don't have that much choice... and they definitely don't want to play a laggy game again.

And for those saying we're not playing the right game, as others above, I've been playing since 1.0, I've done tons of things in this game, and definitely, a house helps for many of them, especially for crafters (special shops, closer ah, closer tp, cheaper tp...). That plus the fact that the new exploring stuff is only available with a house, as well as some chocobo stuff, team crafting...
Actually, if you consider the above stuff, it's definitely legitimate that as every player pay the same monthly fee, they should all have access to it. And actually no one can deny the fact that most of them do NOT have access to it. Which is completely SE's responsibility.

This is ridiculous... So not only do you have to pinch every posible gil you can obtain but then buy with real money a transfer..then wait for your crap to sale and hope one house is available. Sounds legit... They might as well cashshoped housing...

Ultros last night had several small and medium plots open a few large. Mostly in goblet, but they will be adding more wards and ishgard housing. That is what I am saving for. Sorry about the craze on all the bigger servers I hope the best to all of you.

Reading some of these posts really makes me sad. Can totally understand the OP's feelings, especially the comparrison to say, a treasured relic or top deck of TT cards.

When personal housing 1st became available I didn't understand any of it (nor had the funds ready). The very second I heard the rumor of the subdivisions becoming available, I started raising money like mad (was 2 months in advance of the patch) and camped the login button on opening night. Got the one I wanted just in time. But reflecting back on it, ya, Ida been devistated if I hadnt gotten it too.. Even so, had a back up plan to just be hellishly determined to set aside a house fund for when SE got around to adding more.

Since this new patch will be bringing more housing options, and the upcoming Ishgard lots, would suggest at least sticking around til then and trying again. Don't quit over this (obviously youve enjoyed the game enough to wanna buy a house to begin with) and just be patient. Not to sound grim but even if you miss the next opportunity, Se will probably release more in the future so...
