I start this game as pugilist/monk and never never regret it. It is a fun class and I'll never stop playing. DPS is my life and always will be!

"I like Elezen......it's a thing I have."( ̄▽+ ̄*)
I was DPS for a long long time before going to healer and then tank. It's only 'easy' in that I don't have to worry about keeping people alive, just myself.
I've played both DPS and tanking. I tank when I feel like taking it easy. Could have something to do with my DPS main being black mage, though.
After reading the comments, I now see why a person who plays a certain dps tend to stick with that one. It's like, once you learn it, you aim to make it better. You wouldn't really take your alt dps jobs as serious.

I've always had a dps (or multiple) class as a main and generally a tank class as well (I never was a fan of healing, though Druid and shaman healing I didn't mind in WoW). So Warrior is definitely a favorite of mine, it can tank and do solid dps (and the rotation isn't brain dead). Ninja is my dps class of choice in XIV, the rotation isn't too hard, but it's fast enough and doesn't depend so highly on positionals with a hard-code rotation system.
Jim Berry try going monk cause its a super fun class
Oh and a quick word of advice the class is more annoying positional wise but becomes far easier and smooth when you reach 50.

Was never a fan of MNK, even in FFXI. I guess I like blades, bows, and shields. My PGL has been Lv19 since early September 2013 lol...

As a DPS you're not just responsible for how fast fights go, but for the mechanics of certain fights. Usually add control or breaking a trapped person out of a barrier, or dodging AOEs while maintaining damage.
Also, DPS have strict rotations that if not performed correctly in repetition, it's very easy to lag behind. Harder when bosses like to move around or force you to move (see Ravana).
become a monk we have cookies :P lol
Skill rotations are the main reason I refuse to main as a DPS. It seems too frustrating. I get excitement from keeping people alive, not kicking myself for not kicking the enemy 1 GCD earlier. lol
