its a good idea , but maybe the tax shud be put on those owning more than 1 house? if 2 double tax.
there also need to be a way so SE can keep track of housing on alts or connected char, to make sure they also pay due tax

That's actually not true. In most states, if you miss your property tax payment (especially if you are elderly), a lien is placed against your house. You are not evicted and do not have it taken away from you. Then what happens, is upon your death and disbursement of your estate or the sale of the property, the lien must be paid off for the property transfer to occur giving the government a way to collect their money without throwing old people off their land.Wait a minute. Not to derail this grand thread but how do you not pay property taxes in the real world? Different country? Here in America everyone who owns a house pays property tax. You could have your house paid off for 50 years and as soon as you miss your property tax payment the government will take your house. We are all just renting from the government.
Additionally, there is not federal property tax, so they definitely aren't involved. The actual laws are at your state or local level. The best states in the country for property tax rates have quite low rates:
Louisiana - 0.18%
Hawaii - 0.26%
Alabama - 0.33%
Delaware - 0.43%
West Virginia - 0.49%
South Carolina - 0.50%
Arkansas - 0.52%
Mississippi - 0.52%
New Mexico - 0.55%
Wyoming - 0.58%

No, just no. Go home, your drunk.
I do, and guess what, through MY hard work alone I bought my FC a small home, and through MY hard work alone, I bought myself a home in a different city-state, after reclamation. Moral of the story? Work hard. Get what you want. Don't try to take away from those of us that have put in the effort to make the money just because you didn't do so. I guarantee you wouldn't have this "idea" if you had put the work in for yourself to have been able to buy one either from another player or reclamation.
Looks to me like you have all your crafts at 50+, so why not take some time, figure out what's selling on your market, and make some gil, then buy a house off another player?

The feel is different between a low and high pop server. The house were literally all gone within less than 5 min, and ppl then are reselling it for 100+ mil for a small on PF.I do, and guess what, through MY hard work alone I bought my FC a small home, and through MY hard work alone, I bought myself a home in a different city-state, after reclamation. Before moving to Siren, I was on Balmung, and owned a medium private house there, server pop really isn't an excuse. If you want it bad enough that you think it's fair to ask for something like this, then you should want it bad enough to do whatever it took to get yourself it, without hurting the rest of us.
Me and my brother did not camp by a house for 6 hours each (12 hours overall)(we now share the house) On christmas day just to be landed with a tax D:
That being said, we are never selling this house. Plus it removes so much gil from the economy. 4-5mil is gone every time someone destroys a small house on behemoth.
I don't have any crafting classes so it literally took months and months to earn enough money to buy the house, let alone decorate it. I am broke right now, I don't want no tax T^T
Besides you are already paying an irl tax for a house, the FFXIV subscription fee. If you don't update your subscription every 45 days, and enter the house, you lose the house.

I live in the UK. We have a Council Tax, which pays for local services, but that's not based on the property (directly) as everyone of working age pays it - even if you're living with parents or renting. The amount to pay is based upon the house value band but isn't a "property tax" in the way the OP wants.Wait a minute.
