    Storyline now and then.

Ok so I am going to piece together what I know about the current events in the game that lead to FFXIV v2.0. (Spoiler Ahead)

We gain the power of the Echo, which we see the past of Moh Dhona, and the Shinryu-type dragon. We pick a city which leads us to Ul'dah where we find out more about the beast tribes, and their fear of the ascians.

Urianger appears a few months later to talk about the coming of the 7th Umbral Era. The Garlean Empire starts attacking us again after a 20 year halt in there attack. It's starts raining alot in Gridania. The moon is now larger and red. Cid talks about meteor. The Grand Companies start, to fight the Empire.

We hear from Cid, Urianger, Y'shtola, Thancred, Papalymo, and that companion of his, that Empire is not the threat. Legatus Darnus wants to destroy the Primals which are sucking up Aetherytical energy, to save the planet.

Me putting it together in my own way:

Someone is controlling the lesser moon to the planet. It's going to hit us. Why? Look at Ifrit. What happened when Darnus destroyed the Aetheryte Node. All that energy went into Ifrit making him even more powerful.

That moon is going to hit us, it'll cause a massive tectonic movement which will lead to the new zone redesigns. All that Aetheryte energy is going to be dangling around for someone to grab. Namely monsters, which will cause giants, chimeras, and others to appear.

That Ascian that appeared in the Lord Errant mission, maybe seeking that Aetheryte energy to revive that dragon.

Sounds like a pretty legit theory to me; NPC was even talking about ways to prevent primal "rebirths." I still say it's Bahamut, and twelve damn is he going to be pissed when he comes back. Gonna be like Bible 2 up in here.

That's pretty much the same conclusion I reached. Also consider that the 7th Umbral Era Storyline will not be replayable in 2.0. To me that means it'll just be gone, anyone who hasn't finished it once 2.0 hits won't be able to see any more of it. This pretty much means that the events of this story will lead to the changes in the world.

    Another thing from the outline:

One day, a massive geological anomaly suddenly appears from deep within the ground.

Current players will have the opportunity to unlock the mysteries surrounding this strange, new landmark in the coming months.
Also throw in the Bombard and Hunter's Moon events, the fact that the Bombards came from small meteors and then parts of them were used to make earrings in the likeness of the twin moons which were then stolen by Moon Mice. Not a major part but it lends more to the Dalamud focus.

I dont think it'll actually hit. But get close enough to cause some damage.
Kinda like VII. Somebody is going to be able to prevent it from full impact.
Because even though its a game, if a moon hit a planet...there wouldn't be any life left lol.

This is an amazing perspective I never really thought of it this way. Not too impressed with the spoilers though, maybe you could use the spoiler feature to hide that?

Wow, coming into a storyline thread and not expecting story spoilers... who exactly would do that?

Eorzea (the Aether in particular) I believe is what is "summoning" Dalamud to approach. Its like two magnetic forces pulling toward each other (see the floating Aetheryte crystal in the concept art). My reason is because you usually chain things down to prevent it from floating up, which looks like what the crystal is doing, going to Dalamud. Wrong or not, I'm sticking around because I'm very intrigued by how it will all unfold.

That would be cool, but as far as we know Aethryte energy has alwasy been around, why did it take this long for it to hit the planet? That's why I think soomeone is controlling it.
