i only fear that Beastmaster would get the Summoner treatment. You'd have your tank pet, dps and ranged pet all gained through quests.

Or a shrine maiden with a sacred beads and talisman weapon but uses intellect instead of strength/dexterity and weave curses and hexes to deal damage along with holy attacks
My concern is that this thread will be flooded by Red mage, blue mage, samurai, beast master, mystic knight , dancer, rune fencer.... Which is from ffxi ..... Me personally would like to see somethink new and not something remade all over again... For example astrologian have never been playable and majority of people enjoy playing it ......
So for me i wish they suprise us and make something new , same with the new race.... Everyone wants viera and so do i but i would prefured if they suprised us like they did with the Au Ra race ... But this is my opinion base with friends opinions too
If they make Beastmaster a crappy pet Job like Summoner or Machinist, I'll be pretty disappointed... It should be a simple enough job... No Charm as it was in XI, instead use XIs Broth concept, and off hand tool which determines what pet you call. Since we can't have consumables on Jobs for reasons, instead have them obtained in combat. Make Charm similar to Mug, use it, kill the enemy, Broth to summon that mob type has a chance to drop to your inventory. Have lots of variation in what pet you can use, shouldn't be hard considering all the mobs already exist... Just slap a standard Broth as a quest reward and let people customize from there...
No, they're from Final Fantasy. This is a Final Fantasy game. It's going to have Final Fantasy Jobs. If you cut out all the references to past games from this game, you'd have next to nothing, Ravana and some of the settings, that's about it... Astrologian isn't even particularly new, it's just Time Mage given a new coat of paint and without the ridiculously overpowered stuff that wouldn't work in a MMO setting. My concern is that this thread will be flooded by Red mage, blue mage, samurai, beast master, mystic knight , dancer, rune fencer.... Not that I'm against entirely new stuff, but this is still a Final Fantasy game. I expect new spins on classics, I mean Scholar is a classic Job, but is it a copy of the past versions? Nope.

Mediators are the men and women trained in the arts of charisma and coercion, trained not to fight with foes using brute force, but by talking. These natural diplomats, can come into terms (Or not) with any creature in the universe, of any kind, due to the mystical power of understanding the soul crystal of the mediator concedes. With their amazing speechcraft they provoke foes attention and discourse with them so that their allies can effectively execute their roles, while the mediator confabulate with the enemy about numerous subjects.
Weapons - Walking sticks
I've fully fleshed out the idea on this post, if you wanna check. :P

I was {Corsair} in Final Fantasy XI next to Ninja. I would love for COR to return here. It was a strong support class capable of dps.

As I recall they functioned almost similar, in Tactics they could buff per turn, heal and such while in XI mobs they marked gave back say HP to the attackers per strike. Dunno how that would work honestly unless they made it a primarily a healer class which focused more on getting up close and personal (which I'd love myself). Someone had some idea fully fleshed out that I agreed a good amount on, something about building stacks but I think they were more as a DPS class than healer. Carrying the same concept but for esunas and such.
Never going to happen. How many people are going to want to play a job that involves talking down to the enemy? I don't see it being very interesting and I doubt Square Enix does either. It wasn't even particularly useful in the game it did appear in (FF tactics). It was just a nuisance way to permanently increase your bravery or faith. The only other worthwhile role it had was to convince an enemy unit to join you. Other than that it was worthless and other jobs had better ways to defeat their enemies.
Heh, I completly agree with you that Mediator is very unlikely class, since it's not greatly popular or well known. As you mentioned in FFT it had it's niche uses but when it came to actually killing monsters it was profoundly lacking when compared to the other classes. And that's what made it stand out for me, the fact that it wasn't meant to be a battle class focused on fighting, but in dialogue.Never going to happen. Now about me personally. I loved Mediator in Tactics profoundly, my favorite class by far. Not based on it's uses, but on the concept in general, since if were to choose between the options of talking to an enemy or to stick a sword in his head, I would without doubts choose the diplomatic option. It's a exotic concept for RPGs in general to have a battle class focused not on 'fighting', but one I appreciate much.
Now it's also worth mentioning, that while Mediator was a FF Tactics job, it also appeared in FFV in the form of Beastmaster, so Beastmaster and Mediator while having vastly different concepts, also have some similarities, and I also believe that bringing different concepts and classes that aren't popular, well-known, and staple is a nice addition to the dialogue, since it might futher expand the possibilities that can be brought up as matters of discussion.
