If Horizontal Progression is a thing...

There needs to be a lot more ways to make money in this game. My suggestion would be something like what WoW does with Garrisons and such. Currently there is no way for a Non-crafter to make any money.

    - Powerleveling.
    - Farming like in Archeage. Planting Trees and making contested zones. Illegal Farming.
    - Garrisons. (I've actually never did one myself. I just heard it was a great way to make money.)
    - Selling Loot. (Make Relic and such tradeable.)
    - Running People through harder content.
    - Less Instancing.

Garrisons killed WoW for me. But to add, there needs to be more repeatable/daily quests and quest rewards gil wise need to be increased at end game. Quest rewards are pretty much the same across the board and sure you could do beast tribe quests everyday but variation is nice. I like how someone mentioned about just making all kill x number quests and gathering quests (go here collect this) repeatable. It would add to immersion imo as well vs just doing it once and seeing the 'issue' still occurring.

There was also someone mentioning an idea of getting tokens for doing older content so you could use those tokens to purchase the glamour you wanted to fight RNG to a degree. You could just add more gil trade in options to make older content still worth doing if someone is doing it for glamour but only if you do it within the restrictions of the content and not undersized to avoid abusing the system to make money.

List of non-crafting money making methods:
    - Primal farming
    - Killing monsters for crafting materials (Boars/ toads, etc)
    - Spirit Bonding
    - Raiding (Coffin Lid sold for 200mil on my server) > No crafting item ever sells for that much.
    - Dungeon running > tomes > trade tomes for items > sell

Then there's things only combat people get like combat retainers which have their own utility uses for money making.

Most of these are superior to crafting earnings considering the amount of investment you need for crafting/gathering in the first place. I personally haven't bothered with crafting much since Heavensward release due to no urgent need of money.

Did all that. Not worth the money really.

Crafting is almost 30 times faster.

There's no way for a non-crafter to make money? I guess all the content I've merced was in my imagination. So's my FC garden. For that matter, all the drops I've farmed in the open world or in dungeons/trials/raids and sold were too. Oh, and the gil bonsues for the challenge log and adventurer in need don't exist either. Crafting makes you *more* money than these (with the possible exception of mercing, depending on what you're able to sell and how often), but honestly it should considering the initial investment.

Anyway, since when is horizontal progression a thing on FFXIV? o.O

Yeah i've been struggling to make gil as a raider only. In WoW gold drops in the raid. This would be a nice addition to ff14.

Powerleveling - How in the blazes can powerleveling be added?
Garrisons - Can be implemented but lords no. Already got WoW for that.
Farming - Would require an entirely different game.
Selling Loot - You mean building a full relic and then selling it?
Running People through harder content - Can already be done.
Less Instancing - Would require a whole new game.

What does that have to do with Horizontal Progression?
