Its much harder for tanks to close the gap compared to melee. No gap closers (Spineshatter Dive, Shoulder tackle, Overwhelm, etc), no enhanced movement speed (ninja without poison, Mnk's fists of wind) and no weapon throw to cancel opponents sprint and possibly heavy them. Hell Ninja even gets bind. If a tank gets close to a ranged they could destroy them but its still easier said than done without these tools.
