Since the weather in the major cities is snow pretty much until the Starlight Festival is over, I'm assuming we can't finish sightseeing logs in those cities?

If I recall, I think they made it so the last time this happened, the sightseeing spots were available the entire time for the seasonal weather.
I'm not having any luck with the ones in Limsa. Bismarck didn't work at the right time, and I'm standing at the edge of the Astalicia at night and using /lookout.![]()
Hm. Maybe it was the weather-specific fish that I'm thinking of. I know they adjusted something to accomodate. I just can't remember exactly what it was.![]()
Well the christmas event won't last forever and the sightseeing spots aren't going anywhere. Just finish them up after the event is over. If you found them now getting there later will be easy.
There was a fish in Gridania that requires rain, and they switched the "snow" condition to count as "rain". I'm pretty sure that fish is part of a fisher quest, so having it unavailable for several weeks was out of the question.
Yeah that fish was catchable during snow so I'm guessing it counts as that.
(super serious)I don't know what to put here so I've put this here as a placeholder until I figure it out.(super serious)

That's not really the point of the post, it's kind of unfair to forbid people from completing content(even something as small as sightseeing log) because they enforced a CONSTANT weather pattern. How would you feel if they arbitrarily said for one month "Oh sorry, Rhia, you can't play your favorite class for a month cuz #reasons"? I'm sure you'd be pretty annoyed by it. Not to mention Sightseeing Log is a rather great source of EXP for leveling alts.
I didn't think the 2.X sightseeing log had xp? Or maybe I just had all my classes to 50, so I never noticed.
But yeah, 2.X sightseeing log is terrible in general. The "hints" rarely point to the insanely tricky locations you need to find for the later entries, the hints RARELY indicate both the strict time AND weather conditions, and many of the locations you need to reach at then end would seem impossible unless there were guides on the internet proving otherwise.
My favorite was the hint for Buscarron's Druthers, which stated "dawn" and "raining". Actually, the location is open from 8AM-12PM (not 5am or 6am like the previous "dawn" locations) and during thunderstorms (rain condition doesn't work). I must have checked with the weather forecaster for a week before I saw what I assumed were the correct conditions, only to fail because I was using in-game information rather than relying on a web guide.
The whole 2.X sightseeing log reeked of carelessness, of which the holiday weather is an example, with the crutch being that people can just use the internet to figure out the actual information they need. Thankfully they made it more plausible to explore and find them on your own for 3.X locations, while completely removing the poorly translating "hints". Which is wonderful, because I actually like the additional world information the sightseeing log entries contain.

Heavensward Sightseeing is great. But yeah, they really messed up with the original ARR ones. Shame.
