You mean like the Minfilia, Strifes, Lockhearts, Lionharts, Heartilly's, Onion Kinghts, Tataru clones and wannabes? Its nothing new. It just sounds like you don't like ffvii. :/I have seen no argument for the bike besides: PLZ can has, is sexy yes yes?
But almost no-one has addressed the issue of the fact that FFXIV loses its uniqueness if we implement too much throwback glamour. I do NOT want to see 10,000x cloud expys on bikes when I'm playing FFXIV. If I want to see Cloud, I'll go play VII or Dissidia or watch Advent Children (Or go play SSB, apparently...). I do not want him in Eorzea, and certainly not en masse. It would be SUPER lame.
Does anyone else not think seeing Cloud-wannabes on their bikes everywhere would be SUPER annoying?
That's funny. I do like FFVII; it's definitely not my favorite, but I do like it. Part of the reason I don't wanna see 100's of Cloud wannabes running around is because I actually like Cloud and he doesn't freaking deserve that, lol.
And when I see names like that, I kinda get annoyed. Yeah. You're right it's nothing new, doesn't mean I have to embrace it. Doesn't mean I don't want to see less of it.
And if it was any other game in the franchise, even though I LOVE them all, I would be torn seeing the cosplay outfits being handed out en masse and not gated behind the vet stuff. Because it just cheapens FFXIV and the original games themselves. It makes Eorzea less unique. It makes the characters from the other games feel less special. Even if they put stuff from FFVIII, my absolute favorite game in the series by leaps and bounds, it would make me a little sad to run into not-Squalls everywhere.

It's funny: people seem to be complaining about how this bike could "ruin" the immersion and atmosphere of the game because "well uhm it's supposed to be only on VII and not in XIV"...
But everyone's fine with their lame and bad puns? And that's just one of my biggest complain, but I won't go around saying that I want them removed!
PS: I would definitely get the bike however: I honestly don't like chocobos and I have a bigger love for machines like the Magitek which is....Hhmm I wonder where I've seen that before!!!!
They're annoyed with the game and is why their saying stuff like "omgawd immersion breaking, ughhhhhh" when our immersion is broken running the same dungeons and raids in rapid succession for some sort of currency, glamour, or silly optional quest. Not to mention, alot of the stuff in this game is from other ff games like Costa Del Sol (ff7) Seventh Heaven (ff7), Gunblades (FFVIII , magitech, the Judgement armor that Garland where's (FFXII), sooo much more. Why people even bother complaining now is beyond me. I'm guessing they have nothing else better to do.It's funny: people seem to be complaining about how this bike could "ruin" the immersion and atmosphere of the game because "well uhm it's supposed to be only on VII and not in XIV"...

Because its common courtesy to respect ones ideas. Just completely shutting out all reason is just flat out rude, giving compromise where it doesn't belong. The thread is about "That" bike. Not Gob mobiles or Garland Works. Which is funny because we'd still be able to keep that Cloud model bike. As if they could't make it XD. And if this one thing would make ffxiv un-unique I want to know what other mmo actually had a huge franchise and included references to nearly every game it had, sounds pretty unique to me.

The irony. It's common curtesy to respect other's ideas, but it's rude to call for compromise? Lol at ME being the one shutting out all reason.
If you really wanna have a discussion, you can talk about references that are tastefully done, and references that are cheesy, ham and put people off. You can also talk about respecting ideas being distinct from and simultaneously compatible with disagreement (ie, I respect your right to name your character "Cloud", but I don't agree with it, etc). But I don't really see you as someone who can make find distinctions, so I won't bother. I'll just say that calling for someone to "respect your ideas" and then telling them to shut up about their ideas and go away is logically inconstant, hypocritical, and a waste of everyone's time.
You want Cloud's bike and you want everyone to have it. Well, Yoshi doesn't agree with you mostly because he thinks it looks stupid. But feel free to make a thread asking them for it anyway. Hopefully when they click on it they'll see that just as many people DON'T want it as do, and they'll make their decision accordingly. Or are the Dev's only allowed to see YOUR viewpoint? Didn't realize this MMO was a single-player game made for you.

He's already crossed that threshold with a lot of people in regards to a flying tortoise mount. Apparently having the cloud's bike is stupid, but having the flying tortoise (because apparently no other tortoises in this game possesses the ability of fire-propelled flight)You want Cloud's bike and you want everyone to have it. I meant your previous statement that i disagreed with, the one with Saying you don't want something in the game without even considering it, not you in general with your other stuff. :/The irony. I don't recall telling you to shut up, just saying things like "Devs should be working on something else other than your requests" is something I'd rather you suggest in your own threads. I'm not trying to offend you so quit being so darn hostile.
And no, the game isn't just for me. As everyone else, we're all obligated to request or discuss what we'd like in the game. Some ideas Yoshi jokes about are actually in the game "Lord of Verminion April fools joke" Btw, this is a specific topic, that's why i said compromise didn't belong, because its basically you asking for your own mount or a alternative way of receiving it. Considering it a possibility is ok, saying it should be on the other hand is a bit much imho.
I totally considered it. 1. I think it would be obnoxious to be flooded with Cloud wannabes. 2. It's unoriginal 3. Yoshi said the animation is horrible and I believe him. I have backed off of several of my other points over the course of this thread because I had a discussion with people about it. Considered it, yes I have. A lot.
Personally, I'd be fine without any kind of bike at all, so I'm not about to go make my own thread about it. You're basically saying that this thread should ONLY people who want CLOUD's bike. That's a petition, though, not a thread. A thread is for discussion. And my point is that if Yoshi came looking at the forums to get feedback on the bike and clicked on this thread, he deserves to hear that part of the playerbase DOESN'T want it. That part of the playerbase would be happy with an alternative. He deserves to hear both sides. That's called balanced debate and it's fair. Compromise is the definition of fair. And, yeah, you are saying take your balance and your logic and your compromise and go somewhere else. That's exactly what you're doing.
Saying to remove it =/= saying you wouldn't like any more.
Why don't you say it, if you don't want it. Everyone's allowed their opinion, right?
Furthermore, how exactly is my complaint related to yours other than it's a complaint. Expys and lame puns are not remotely similar concepts.
Whatever, you guys want the bike. An original bike isn't good enough. Vet rewards isn't good enough. Please add to mogstation! Ugh, you people just won't be happy with a compromise will you? Guess I'm wasting my breath here. GL to you all, expecially since Yoshi axed it anyway. I wish you the best.
Im fine with an original bike but it would be a waste of devtime imo cause im fine with the current bike. If they want to make an ffxiv original (steelworks, ironworks, w/e), more power to them.
