This game struggles enough as it is with maintaining its own sense of identity. Transplanting a powerful looking, yet out of place, FFVII bike that moves at the same speed as a fat Chocobo would be ridiculous.

i will see your argument with a counter argument, if the game didn't wish to add silly things into there game, then there wouldn't be a hildebrand, or half of the things we have as mounts and minions, or even the gold saucer which in it self is a GIANT ff7 reference. some people wish for a more designed item to come from garlamald or the allagahn so we can have a better look into how they lived there lives lore wise, as well as seeing into how the other civilisations besides eorzia live, for the simple look of how a mount like the bike will not work because of speed there are countless ways to say why it moves at that speed they could even make it a prize from chocobo/bike racing if they wanted to, that is the argument, this game has an identity but it is also a MMO, players will want things that will look pleasing asteticly. to say that everything else is bad and thats no excuse shows that you have your own tastes as to what shouldn't be implemented into the game yet still are, and i bet you don't even mind that they are in the game because others use them.

I think it's a good argument, it's not valid yet cuz there are only a few things that go "really?"

But at some point if enough joke things are added eventually that will become more the norm and acceptable. Then we'll have crabs with top hats and giant spider birds that sing. Thankfully we're not that far fallen off the path lol.

because there are items in the game that should exist either but there anyways.

While the idea of a flying turtle/gobbue etc. is ridiculous (yet are planned to be added anyway), the lore team could merely invent some fantasy biological reasoning behind their sudden capacity to fly (e.g. recent discovery of a long lost Allagan experimenatation log). Still ridiculous, but at least there's an in-game explanation for it.

A fancy futuristic-looking motorcycle that can only go as fast as a fat Chocobo though? No explanation could make up for how immersion breaking that would be.

Machinist guild/Garlemand made it to test the concept, but the engine of the prototype was flawed, so it turned out to not actually be a noticeable speed improvement.

That's no less ridiculous than Allagan shenanigans. In fact, it's rather realistic actually.

The fact that you need an explanation at all for why they might add something to the game that entirely wont affect you at all for anything other than seeing someone else use it is kinda funny but really immersion breaking?
Hell, female characters running around half naked fighting giant monsters in bunny hats is kinda immersion breaking... but devs were ok with it.
Honestly im ok with it not being in game but the fact that its there and already made, going to waste... when some players could be enjoying it is a shame. Haters can simply ignore it... ... while i cruize on by. You mad?

lets not forget they will allow genetic splicing to allow things that cannot fly to fly, they allow many OTHER things and yet this is the straw that brakes the camels back and i bet as soon as they see concept for something truly lore braking they will beg for it like theres no tomorrow.
