Yeah it's totally not fair to compare WoW and FF14's legendary weapons/gear to each other. Or even their differences in gear at all for that matter.

I disagree with you and Rice. While different, I find the weapon as proposed fulfills the same niche as the relic (for me at least). The Artifact weapons are one of the most drawing reasons that I've pre-purchased Legion, and the relic disappointment is one of the biggest reasons that I only log on to FFXIV for raid nights now.
