    That's the only metric that's going to matter to Square Enix as a business, though. They do indeed look at player engagement with content and listen to player feedback in efforts to create content that will appeal to a wide variety of players (though it should be said that not all content is meant to appeal to all players), all in an effort to maintain (and presumably grow) their subscription base.

    As far as I know, everyone is getting an Artifact Weapon in the newest expansion, though I'm not sure if details are available as to what the item level will be relative to other options thus far. The general structure seems to be at least superficially similar to the Zodiac/Anima weapons here—they grow with you over time and it doesn't seem like they're going to require raid content. Legendary weapons have historically been Raid-only, of course, but they've moved away from them over time, as far as I know (but I haven't played WoW in any real capacity since Cataclysm, so I only follow it through the grapevine).

    I don't mind the anima relic grind this time around since I'm not having to look off game to track bonuses only to grind only Garuda EX while somehow crystal tower wasn't worth the light at all(neither is void ark sadly but at least it is for ONE reason instead of three). This time, it doesn't matter, new or old, as long as I get tomes at the very least, I'll be a step closer to getting anima. I want to have fun playing the game, not waste my time with all the worthless junk, weekly locks, short changing players if any of you have already beaten it that week, excessive/broken DPS checks that that's toxic raiders and everyone else, and extremely nonflexible, nonadaptive, excessively stubborn, hubris, and backstabbing, this isn't even mentioning the ways the Jobs work against you, like with timers, delays, and excessive set ups. That is Alex Savage. The weapons at the end are not worth it especially when this was all so badly design.

    Also I've wanted a fix to the tanking since 2.0 but they've only made half fixes (fixed WAR), adding clear tape on the problem instead of a cheap bandage (especially when it has anything to do with the paladin), and straight up ignored the biggest problems tanks have, and resources isn't one of them, that's only the DRK's problem, not other tanks. Players could just use hubris and "skill" to brush aside these noticeable issues. While I'm happy it's something the devs are addressing again, I'm disappointed it took broken savage, and HW's additions to DPS to make them more than TWICE as strong as tanks and level sync/ huge differences in gear power to finally make this an issue nobody can simply ignore.

    The Relic line could do something similar to how Blade and Soul works. In blade and soul your weapon progresses with you by 'offering' other weapons. So you can go from regular stage 1-5 by offering random weapon drops, but at stage 5 through 6 you need to use a special weapon obtained via a trial or open world boss. Then stage 6-10 same as 1-5, and at stage 10 you need another special weapon + crafting item (also sometimes obtainable as a drop) to progress.

    In this sense we could have the next stage work like this. From ilvl 210-215 is done via offering weapon drops found via dungeons etc. The higher the ilvl offering, the better progress made. This would also create some desire for crafted weapons. Then at 215, you need to get the next Trial EX weapon drop + some crafting item to surpass to move it to 216, and move on to 220. This would let the more casual players achieve at least a 215 weapon. It would also make the process less grindy and more natural, as you can obtain weapon drops in most content (use tomestones to purchase weapon offerings, craft weapons, weapon drops, ex trials etc)

    It would be a novel way to use old item drops, and I suppose it's something they might do someday in the future. Relying on the item level of the "offered" weapon would provide an interesting way for them to incorporate more "midcore" content, since things like weapons from EX Primals would grant more progress than something from a Roulette dungeon (though that lever also existed for Nexus/Zeta since EX primals gave higher light values—though you could reasonably argue their values weren't high enough for the effort).

    Here? You never have to do raids, and the artifact weapon is simply a powerful yet special looking weapon. Some won't see it that way considering how it was and probably still is in WoW (among other MMOs that might have this).

    They did not have legendary weapons in Mists or Warlords.

    Bashiok said the decision was made to go in that direction because "ultimately having something for even the LFR player to work toward over a long period of time is a great goal to have for people."

    The weapon tier's was set up correct in 11 it should be same as it worked, tome weapon, crafted weapon HQ,Relic weapon and HNM weapon (raid equivalent). The HNM was extremely difficult to do unless you had the relic weapon, the content associated with the relic was very hard to do unless you had best crafted weapon etc. After each update the people that got the HNM weapon could skip new tome/crafted/relic although getting next phase of relic would make fight easier. Every weapon in 14 is just starting to step on each others toes.

    The only weapon casual players should be able to get without effort is a crafted weapon HQ/ESO aiming towards Hard fights. To help this they should bring back three tiers to primal fights normal(Story)/Hard(Relic quests) and Extreme(Hardcore players).
