I don't think the relic grind would have been a problem if they released it in 3.0. However, releasing it so close to 3.2, when the 210 will be obsolete, and still putting such a large grind on the 210 aspect of the relic, is just off-putting.

I'm pretty sure the whole reason they made this huge grind is to hide the fact that they wouldn't have any other end-game content ready for 3.15, and was hoping it'd keep the player base busy until 3.2. However, all it's done is cause more and more grey names on my friends list and linkshells during "peak" hours, because nobody wants to run the same things we've been grinding since 3.0.

Personally, I'm just waiting until the 210 phase is nerfed, because the SMN stats are disappointing any ways and the way to get it is mind-numbing. I can just switch to another game in the mean time.

You say the relic is for "casual players" who don't enjoy difficult content, but in return make certain relics better then there savage counter part. Not only was the relic pushed back on release we got (Base Eso forms) in all that time we got a weapon we've already had but with glow...the only true effort was the design of the 210 relic models. The rest was recycled content that we are all sick of.
The best gear should be locked behind raiding, or there's no point in raiding. However, some of the Anima weapons are actually much better than their Gordian counterparts.

In fairness to SE, the OP noted that this has "resulted in concerns being raised about Esoteric weapons and the lifetime of weapons that are to be implemented in Patch 3.2" and that they "will be revamping the item level hierarchy in Patch 3.2 and making adjustments so the flow afterwards is more fitting." Unfortunately, as with some of the other adjustments we've been told about for 3.2, we have no idea what that actually means.

It could mean they'll adjust the item levels of the existing weapons in 3.2 (but then why wait until 3.2 to do it?). It could mean they'll ensure that new items are obtained in methods that won't replace the anima weapons quickly (though that could cause issues with progression for people who haven't either cleared A4S/Thordan or ground out an anima weapon).

What would be nice would be if we weren't left guessing about it though.

Might be because they do not know themselves. Or they don't want to jump the gun then change it again before patch release.

This is too true. Not just even about relics as well. I'm sure a lot of us are wondering about the longevity of the crafted red scrip gear, considering the grind and investment required to craft those. It would also be nice to hear _anything_ about the shortcomings of the specialist system in general.

(I'd be extremely happy hearing that specialist recipes were going bye-bye, but they've already doubled-down on it so I'm pretty sure they're here to stay.)
