Just as long as they don't have the Allagans being the ones that created them, enough of that plot device already.
On the one hand, the quests take place in Azys Lla, home of many Allagan chimerical creations

On the other hand the research was done by in Thavnair and the quest imply that the weapons are recent (in fact the ones we are using cpul be sai to be prototypes) and thus are unlikely to be created by Allag

I'll try and keep a running tally of responses and update later - right now, with the Bard weapon, at 18 points in (yeah, yeah I'm behind on it)...she says things like:

"When will we use the sand again?"
"Should I become swifter, or perhaps more attentive?"
    "Have I...changed somehow?"

Right now seems to cycle through just those three.
Bit of a necro, but I finally got around to working on leveling my Anima Relic again, and noticed a change in what was said for Bard once I hit 60/240 points of progress.

She actually says at least five phrases now (if there's more at this stage I haven't seen them), and they've changed to:

"I hope I am to your satisfaction."
    "Does my progress please you?"
"I have grown much since we began."
"What will we focus on next?"
"I feel I have changed somehow."

I'm guessing they don't differ based on stats chosen or class played, but it definitely looks like there's 4 stages to what the weapon says.

I believe the phrases change as you progress in the feeding. By the very end, I think it wanted more and once I was done, it whined about it feeling pain (cause it ate too much)

Pretty much, and this overfeeding resulting in the anima being too much for the 2nd host (Remember an Eso weapon was used for the first host while a new one had to be constructed prior). Because this could potentiality kill the anima, a third host was necessitated (one with a more regal theme for some reason)

The way I see it the Hosts might symbolize different parts of the Warrior of Light's journey in Heavensward and the Anima's growth

    • The Eso weapons symbolized the Warrior by the end of the job quests. From the Almandal reffering to SMN's paradigm shift to the Parashu presenting WAR unleashed power.
    • The 2nd hosts continue this theme, by applied to the MSQ as well as their job stories, Hervelgmir and Nothung symbolize their conflict with Nidhogg, Rongomiant representing their fame, Ancile alluding to King Thordian's ambition and the Draconomicon illustrates the SMN's use of Bahamut's aether
    • The 3rd hosts however instead of taking on more individual names, have used a uniform naming conventions, based off of royalty. Ironically, I think this symbolizes the completion of the weapon. as an independent being from the Warrior of Light instead of being depending on them for their continued existence.

Oh I know they change, I'm just chronicling exactly what those changes are and when, specifically for the Bard weapon. It's more for curiosity's sake than anything else.

I am also wondering if our choice on hearing the anima's voice as a male or female is going to have any significance. None of the characters are even addressing it with a gender pronouns.
