I think it's just old assets recycled rather than having a connection with the elementals
Heres a portion of what wikipedia has to say:
So basically Scholars are studying astrology now.Tetrabiblos is a text on the philosophy and practice of astrology, written in the 2nd century AD by the Alexandrian scholar Claudius Ptolemy (c. AD 90–c. AD 168).
Ptolemy's Almagest was an authoritative text on astronomy for more than a thousand years, and the Tetrabiblos, its companion volume, was equally influential in astrology, the study of the effects of astronomical cycles on earthly matters. But whilst the Almagest as an astronomical authority was superseded by acceptance of the heliocentric model of the solar system, the Tetrabiblos remains an important theoretical work for astrology.
For anyone interested, Ethys Asher did Eorzea Armoire entries for both Tetrabiblos and the Draconomicon in the last week.
I have a bit of a question about the Anima lore!
So the whole thing about the weapon is that it's a living soul enshrined in a weapon, sentient to the point where it has a gender, and the Awoken stage has that soul spilling out and undulating around the weapon itself. Any dual weapons (Monk, Ninja, Paladin, etc) naturally have the effect around both models; while it's certainly not two different souls (as cool as that would be), what does that mean for the one that's in two? Is it divided or split in some way?
I know the answer is that the writers just didn't bother writing a separate bit of of lore for dual and single weapons, but it's interesting to speculate about.
It make sense. Parties have to know what jobs can benefit the most form the Astrologian's cards and that is an aspect of strategy and tactics, both things being the Scholar's niche of knowedge, thus the Scholars would want to know how the cards work to help use them effectively
The possibilities are threefold:I have a bit of a question about the Anima lore!

1. The pseudosoul that inhabits the Anima weapon is split, and should manifest as two separate entities. (It happens again after you complete the Anima weapon proper, just FYI, though there it's clarified that apparently only you can see it. Or maybe the Warrior of Light's PTSD is finally catching up to them and causing a hallucination?)
2. Similar to 1 above, except the pseudosoul is one being; it simply requires both pieces to be in close proximity to gain consciousness.
3. (Most likely possibility) Since the pseudosoul that inhabits our Anima weapon is kept in a single soulstone, or something akin to it, the soulstone is simply kept in one of the pieces and the pseudosoul can manifest and retain its consciousness without the other piece.

Bumping for relevance! After completing your 230 relic, we get this gem from the Anima itself:

To reiterate on what happened in the previous quests, the Anima had sentience, but lacked the ability to speak coherently. Likewise, only the Warrior of Light can see and speak with the Anima being due to their abilities with the Echo. Ardashir speculates that if they keep feeding aether to the Anima, it can become strong enough to be more self aware and be able to communicate with non-Echo people.
So now we have an aetherial being that wants to help us in exchange for maintaining its form with our own essence. Give and take.
