It was a pretty big stab in the back when they clearly showed capability of letting us have more retainers, except they dangle it behind a pay wall.

I felt the same way.

To me, it showed that they very possibly even had the option to give us more inventory/armory slots on our characters if they wanted to, but instead they chose to basically put those much needed resources into the cash shop, so to speak. :/
