If you're not in tank stance then your healer has to do more healing and focusing you.... I guarantee their time would be better spent dpsing whatever you are killing without having to worry about keeping you up because you are trying to dps rather than tank.

If DPS have to slow down because you are losing threat due to not being in tank stance you just slowed the run, if you are taking heavy hits because you are in an offensive stance causing the the healer to have to focus on you 100% of the time you just slowed the run. Unless you out gear content, best to be in tank stance. No point in the increase in dps if you are causing other party members to lower their dps.

OP said "The Brd pulled VA's last boss"!

That's allways funny as a tank to see a too much impatient kid pull the things and get oneshotted, especially on the very first sickle strike of VA's last boss.

If any of the tanks turned on their tank stance, they did it on purpose and tbh I would have done the same.

The baddie was the bard on this exemple, all the 24 guyz in your VA run should have been thankful to the Drk for being way more intelligent and made proof of maturity, tbh I wouldn't have pop my tank stance and provoke in this case, I would have prefered watch all the raid wipes than having to play as a dog-tank, no matter if the whole 24-raid could have yelled at me for this.

They are tanks, it is their job to use tank stance to maintain aggro, especially when DPS were outgearing them. I had a hard time when doing lv60 dungeons since most DPS/Healers got their Eso gears on while I only got upgraded Law Gears, I can understand those tank's feel.
'Tis those DPS who is so impatient and toxic should be blamed, not tanks.

That's how you tame arrogant players.

How ever I use tank stance to pull. It's kind of common sense to use it unless you as a tank out gear everyone by a long shot. Once I seen a huge lead on aggro I switch to offense. Though I pay attention to health while trying to keep some sort of defensive buff on. If healer can handle me in offensive mode I'll remain in it until dps catches up on the hate meter. Then switch back to tank stance while popping my offensive buffs such as fight or flight, berserk unchained (berserk depending), and dark arts. Once the meter reset back to offensive stance. That should be the basic idea.....others are more aggressive others are more defensive. Shouldn't matter if the job is done and everyone had fun.

If I can get away with it I will go Sword Oath and start dps rotation while keeping the str debuff on. Mainly has to deal with my gear vs dps gear or if the healers are having problems.

Couldn't the same argument be made as to why the healer is dpsing instead of healing? If the tank is there is tank, why aren't healers there to heal and the damage dealing left to the classes that specialise in it? Honest question.

Because you get into a situation where the tank is hardly taking damage and re-gening themselves... while the healer literally stands there for long periods of time watching the rest of the group fight.

When I see statements like "your healer has to do more healing and focusing you.... I guarantee their time would be better spent dpsing", I take it as healers not wanting to have to primarily heal during dungeons & raids and would rather just cast a few HoTs and dps. That was what I read from your comment.

I'm pretty sure that any tank is going to need tank stance at the very start of the fight in order to get aggro, whether he chooses to stay in tank stance after maintaining aggro is up to him. VA....honestly who the hell cares? Unless every DPS is freaking garbage in that raid, they shouldn't have to rely on tank DPS in order to down the fight. As a DPS, if I go into my daily roulettes or weekly VA for my side classes, I only expect the tank to hold aggro. As MNK I prefer not to be tanking so I can get my positionals in, I'll carry DPS I don't care, tank just hold aggro, healer keep us alive and I'm content. The only time where people might be pressured to actually care about DPS is in savage content, last I checked Void Ark is a joke just like the dungeons, its not savage content so I won't hold other people to savage standards in casual content.
