New Crafter looking for guidance, tips, and advice!

    Good evening everyone!

So I have been wanting to Lvl craft for a while because I've been wanting to make money for myself , make furniture for my room, and help my FC with crafting stuff. And now with the CRAZY craft requirements for the new Relic quests I definitely want to jump in and be able to help my friends with this struggle.

I'm only in the early first twenty levels of the crafts I picked up so i'm not far into it at all. The Crafts i decided to pick up were Leatherworker, Weaver, Alchemist, Culinarian, and Botanist.

My question is, what are some methods for leveling Crafts at this early stage? Is there more things to do besides finishing recipes in the recipe book you get?

Also, is there anything I should know when leveling craft? It seems more complicated then just running dungeons as a DoW/DoM to level up and gear up?

Any advice or guides are GREATLY appreciated!

I suggest you read this :

    http://ffxivrealm.com/guides/ff14-ad...ie-tsukino.39/

Caimie named it "advanced", but it also goes through basics. It's advanced in the sense that it's thoroughly explained. You can find lots of useful information starting from scratch up to high level.

As you will soon find out, you shouldn't expect to make millions overnight. Camie herself called that "a long-term investment", which is very true. It takes a lot of experience and dedication to reach a level where you can craft almost everything blind-folded. The cross-class skills (and skills) chapter is particularly interesting to read

I wanted to post this yesterday but couldn't due to the retarded post limit.

Be advised that you cannot treat crafting in FF-XIV like you treat it in other MMOs. Crafting in this game is NOT a supplement to support your combat class.
It has it's own MANDATORY! endgame gear progression (w/o proper gear/melds at 60, you can't craft anything worthwhile) and leveling/progressing will cost you WEEKS of playtime and (depending on how much you farm yourself) MILLIONS of gil. (not kidding)

Also: SE's statement that you can be successful with only leveling ONE crafting class is a blatant lie. Not only will you need to spend more millions of gil on base mats you can't craft yourself, you'll also lack many cross class skills and will have to deal with the RNG infested whistle system (specialist skills). So if you want to craft 2* items reliably, be prepared to level all crafters to at least 50. If you want to do red scripts for gear w/o spending millions a week? Level them all to 60.

If you are looking for quick profits, I'd level a gatherer (essentially free via leve quest - a bit of gear) and just sell crap. Way better profits/time invested ratio here.

Do NOT level crafters just for the lol relic items. Yes they are expensive now, but they will plummet in price over the next months. You will have spent way way more on leveling all crafters to 50/60 (imagine selling all the mats you farm for that) that you'd ever spend on the relic items.

The easiest / fastest way to level a crafter is use Leves. In the home town of each crafting guild the is an Levemate at the Inn.
For each level tier (every 5 levels), there is always one Leve which requires creation of just 1 item and you turn it in to a person just a short running distance away. It usually takes about 3 or 4 HQ turn ins to level up. Thus, you make about 15 HQ of the same item, then run back and forth between the two NPCs for about 10 minutes and you have gained 5 levels to open the next Leve tier.

    Levemetes
    Limsa T'mokkri
    Ul'dah Eustace
    Gridania Gontrant

    Leve turn ins:
    Limsa Bango Zango
    Ul'dah Roarich
    Gridania Maisenta

For level 50 - 60, the levemete and turn in person are standing next each other just a short run from the Ishgard aetheryte.

From 56 onward I'd check out the collectible dudes for easy material turn ins. Quickly crafted, few mats needed and okay XP.
Powerleveled my GSM from 56 to 60 in a few hours at very little cost that way.

From 57 on, I did a mix of Blue script turn in and leves. I mostly did Leves, and just enough blues to get the masters books and Blue Script gear set. As the blue script set was big step forward in my gear progression and enabled me to make the Chimerical gear and Adamantite tools at 60 pretty easily.

However, there is also always one "courier" leve for each craft that gives a lot more XP but requires teleporting to another city. Since you only get 6 leve allowances every 24 hours, it makes sense to use the more efficient leves. Also, crafting 15 HQ can take longer than crafting 10 or 1 and running around a bit. And crafting 10 or 11 instead of 15 is cheaper too.

My wife and I are leveling crafting alts using leves and GC daily turn-ins. Since we are leveling them as omni-crafters, we do two to five classes of leve-based leveling at a time, based on the home city. So today, for example, we leveled three crafts by crafting 12 each of the L45 Courier leve turn-ins for Blacksmith, Armorer, and Culinarian (6 for each of us). Then we did 6 cycles of:
    1) Teleport to Limsa (set as a favorite or free destination)
    2) pick up the BSM, ARM, and CUL Courier leves,
    3) Teleport to Mor Dona (a favorite or free destination)
    4) run down to St. C's
    5) turn in all three leves.
repeat until all turn-ins are turned in. Got 3 levels on each of 3 craft classes, each.

Earlier, we did the L40 Courier leves for Blacksmith, Armorer, Culinarian, Leatherworker, and Carpenter all at once:
    1) Teleport to Limsa (set as a favorite or free destination)
    2) pick up the BSM, ARM, and CUL Courier leves,
    3) Teleport to Gridania (set as a favorite or free destination)
    4) pick up the LTW and CRP Courier leves,
    5) Teleport to Dragonhead (a favorite or free destination)
    6) run over to White Brim
    7) turn in all three leves.
We did this seven times, picking up 3.5 levels on each of the five classes.

The gathering and crafting time far outweighed the travel time, even with the reduced amount of crafting required by Courier leves. So keep Courier leves in mind. Note that these Courier leves we use all go from the Craft's home city to a specific city dependent on the level: all home-city-based Courier leves at level 40 go to White Brim, for example.

Also, please note that you have to do an unlock quest at the destination city of the Courier leves (as a DoM/DoW) before you can even SEE the Courier leves to that city.

That also has the advantage of getting you the Blue Crafter Scrip, useful for the Master III books, and arguably useful for the level 57 visible set.

Easiest way to get any craft to 15, and you want them ALL to 15 as a start, is make one of every recipe. The guild salesman has everything you need, except the cooking guild doesn't stock fish. Those can be bought in the Hyaline, just off the aftcastle.

Some of what you make WILL be levequest turnins so stop by the levemete and check before disposing what you have made.
