    Constructive Criticism

3.1 is a huge downer for me. There's just nothing constructive to do except the very same thing over and over again.

What's sad about the above statement is that I'm nowhere near the end of the content. I've barely scratched the surface of "End Game" and I'm getting bored. Here's why:

I can do 2 level 60 dungeons. One gives slightly more of those poetic things than the other so that means that I can do 1 dungeon. Until I get all that Yasa gear and raise my item level to 170, I can't do anything until I've done that one dungeon a hundred times... over and over and over again....

When I'm not grinding that dungeon, I can grind fates... in one area at a time, over and over and over again. Over three hours of Fate grinding today landed me a single Luminous crystal. Just one.

At this rate, with the time I get to log on each week... and based on the amount of hours at a time I can grind fates and a single dungeon in one sitting, I will be able to do more content in about.... another 2 months.

I'm sorry, but I can't grind a single dungeon all day. I just can't do it. My sanity won't allow it. I also cannot grind fates for 20-30 hours on end. I cannot do it.

Gating entire content behind these two things was a horrible plan. You all can simply tell me "Well then don't do them!" But there's nothing else for me to do! I can't progress to harder dungeons or raids unless I increase my gear and the only gear I can now purchase is gated behind two dungeons that give 120 or 100 poetics each.

I won't be able to progress well if I don't get that accursed relic weapon and that requires endless fate grinding. I've completed Sea of Clouds, having acquired three Wind crystals, but I've only gotten 1 Fire. I've so far to go.

I get where you're coming from, but you really just need to step back and rethink your strategy. Turn your short term goals into long term. At this point, crafted 185 gear is pretty cheap on the MB and more than enough to get you into Alex normal or diadem. You've got several paths to gear up now.

As for the relic weapon, you don't HAVE to do it. It never really outclasses other available weapons by much at any point in its life cycle. Its meant more to give people something to work for when they're bored than anything. And hell, depending on your job, your ESO or alex weapon may even be better. Gobdips will be made available soon enough.

You don't have to do the grind. There's plenty of other options open to you.

I don't know what your idea of cheap is, but on my server, 180 gear runs from 400,000 to 4,000,000. That's not anywhere near what I'd call cheap.

Wow, your MB is fucked. There are still several other routes than just grinding 2 dungeons. But I understand the need to rant and wallow.

    Stay salty, my friend.

I have a FC member with a similar problem. It's certainly an annoying issue. The 185 gear does use cheaper mats but unfortunately it requires specialisations to make and diadem materials which push the cost of the gear up. It might be worth asking around your FC to see if their are any crafters who can make it for you cause the materials will probably be cheaper to buy than the finished product.

On top of that I recommend your roulettes as they will reward quite a lot of Law and Eso. Law is buy Far the quickest thing to get gear with.

Also why one dungeon? I thought Neverreap and Fractal Continuum gave the same amount of Law.

I wouldn't bother with the relic unless you are ok with a lot of grinding. Its a hell of a lot of time and work to get made. You can get a 170 weapons for around 570 Law. You can also do daily clan hunts and with clan seals get the material to upgrade law gear 10 ilvl. Its not really fast but it will be a change of pace and make you some gil.

I agree that the ilvl jump needed to run St. Mocianne and Pharos Hard is annoying, although it is just another case of SE repeating patterns as it was the same with Ampador Keep and Wanderer's Palace in 2.0. I wish that SE would make dungeon gear more viable for new players to gear up with.

I'd also recommend daily hunts to upgrade law gear. Definitely run your level 60 roulette for the daily bonus. I break up the tomestone grind with other roulettes like trials, the lvl 50 dungeon roulette, and the MSQ roulette (only once a day for the bonus). It might be less efficient, but it helps break the monotony.

FYI, you can edit post to get past the 1000 character limit, in order to keep from using up all of your posting allowances/double posting.

I'm kind of on a break, seeing as how I picked up half a dozen games from the Steam sale. But for me it's not really an FFXIV problem, it's just that I joined too late. There's technically a lot to do that interests me, it's just content that everyone's over (or has been over for several months).

I also recommend the hunts for upgrading Law gear, as while they're not brilliantly exciting they're better than running the same dungeons every day ad nauseam. Grab a friend or two and chat while you search if you can.

PVP also gives law, and if you're on Adders the queue times are usually short. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but it keeps you on your toes.

    Variety prevents burnout.
