Steam free trial version not tracking gameplay and overlay not working.

I hope I'm asking in the right section but my problem is as the title states.

I have no issues with all my other games. Only this free trial of FFXIV on steam.

Back to trying again today but no luck.

I've tried it disabling UAC, Unchecking read only mode for the whole folder, subfolder & files, runnining both steam and the game with and then without admin.

It just launches the boot,exe as straight after the patch checker when the launcher appears it stops showing me as in-game and I can't use the overlay either

I've googled and tried everything I've stumbled across, I'm getting desperate

Ok so I've just bought the full version on steam with 90 days subscrition and was really hoping it's now start showin I'm in game and give me the overlay as someone said this was why... But it's still not working

Is anyone on Vista that has the overlay working in game?
