I believe the point they are trying to make about the results of a forum polling not being an accurate representation of the general playerbase is that there is bias inherent in the sample group.
Those who come to post on the official forums are a small select group amongst the player-base that wish to talk about the game and often in some ways have their opinions heard so that it may influence the direction of the game. Wishing to help incite change in a game reflects a bias that can easily taint or skew the data of such polls since the base desires and behaviours that draw a person to post on the forums in the first place will influence how they will answer such questions.
This has nothing to do with whether forum posters, whatever their opinions, are less or more than other players.
Any who, such a discussion is sidetracking from the point of this thread so I'm sure the OP would appreciate getting back to the point of the thread.

1. Yes.
2. Almost one year
3. Why does one have to leave one MMO in order to play another? Well, yes, I unsubscribed from WoW this summer (after playing FFXIV for six months), but I also resubscribed to SWTOR recently, and play other MMOs and, more importantly, other games outside the MMO genre. When the next WoW expansion comes out, I'll resubscribe. The only folks I've known who have to be dedicated to a single MMORPG are high-end raiders.

Are you currently satisfied with FFXIV?: Only in some areas, but very disappointed in non instanced housing, 0 player creativity and no way to build anything , soooo basic and boring, limited and poorly designed..should have copied Rift 100%.
Numerous other issues but too many to list, they are not game breaking in any way as stand alones, but add them up, and they have become outright annoying after this long O.o
How long have you been playing FFXIV?:
Since the very first failed launch
Did you leave any other MMO in order to play FFXIV, and if so, which?: Nope I never quit one game for another, continue with all previous subs no matter, I like to jump into all games at one point, I don't unsub unless I feel developers are truly trying to screw players, or if I lose all trust in them to make any decision (happened once for a long stretch in wow)
♥ MORE HIGH HEELS + INSTANCED HOUSING! ♥!
1. Sastified with some things and unsastified with many aswell
2. 4 months
3. Runescape, silkroad online, scions of fate, cabal, aion, archeage
(Reached either endgame or played for at least a year in all of these games)
And as for subbing just to one mmo at a time. Some of us don't have a big wallet while we study. Ff14 furthermore costs the double of the usual subscription model. Its just that I've played mmos for arround 12 years and I'm seeing this game make some mistakes which killed some mmos and I've just been here for arround 4 months.

1. Sort of maybe. The pros and cons would be a discussion on its own.
2. 2.0 beta, though technically the start of 2015 since I stopped shortly after release.
3. No (my reasons for stopping any given MMO are always related to the game itself, not because of the existence of other games).

1) No. I find myself logging in, doing dailies, and logging off.
2) Been playing since the UK release of FFXIV 1.0, warts and all.
3) Yes, several. Guild Wars 2. Champions Online. A brief fling with the Elder Scrolls Online. Rift.
I stay because despite its flaws, this game has potential. If the devs ever decide to release that potential, this game will be amazing. They need to break out of their comfort zones first though.
1. Yes
2. Year and three months
3. Not really, if you need to count one, count Ragnarok Online.

Clearly, the best Final Fantasy character is Locke Cole.
Glamour is TRUE ENDGAME
1. No.
2. 1.x Not 1.0 but soon after.
3. None, left them for other reasons.
1. Nope.
2. 2 years, tried the beta for a day if that counts.
3. Nope.
As others have mentioned, this poll basically just summarizes how everyone specifically on the forum feels about the game (at least in question 1). I think that it would be interesting, however, to see the correlation between how long people have been playing the game and if they're currently satisfied with it or not, if there's one at all. From what I've observed generally, 1.0 players either are in so deep that they really will just take whatever SE throws at them or they've grown tired of giving them second chances. 2.0 players are similar, though I think more forgiving and a bit less experienced. 3.0 players are in 2 extreme camps, either they're loving the game or they're hating it (potentially holding out to see if anything changes).
That's just what I've noticed, though, not necessarily a good reflection of those sets of people so take it with a grain of salt.
