    Carrying 9 weapons in ffxiv is a big deal since you know "memory limitations".
    Couldn't even have enough weapons for 3 classes with the current inventory system.
    Not going against horizontal progression as this game desperately needs it but with their current excuses it's not possible.

    Opposite with strong vertical progression.

    FFXI got away with making grinds like me going 1/149 on leaping Lizzie boots because once you got the drop it was good and relevant Nearly forever and it's was like a level 7 item or something.

    Ffxiv can't give you that much to do because there are clear cut best in slot items so people grind one thing until they get it.

    While FFXI if you got tired of camping Lizzie boots you could go grind for something else that you haven't got yet. You had 1,000 relevant items you could get. While ffxiv has like 18 relevant items for your job.
    Also in FFXI items had a lot more different properties : stas boosts, haste, accuracy, evasion, elemental effects / resistance, occasionnally do something, store TP, enhance skills/traits etc etc. There was some kind of theorycraft for most jobs and depending on situations.

    I don't understand memory limitations.

    They could always make a system where once I get say relic weapon. Why can't I trade it to a Npc who essentially destroys it and just puts a little check mark on my account so if I need it again the game can "re-create" pretending it's the same peice of gear

    Isn't that what those AF armor NPCs did in FFXI? They were basically AF vendors that only gave you for free what you had already. Obviously any dyed gear would be changed back to neutral color.

    Doesn't that already exist though? Isn't that what the calamity salvager is?

    what would be better I think is an overhaul to the armoire system.

    If I were to overhaul the system, I would remove the armor inventory completely.

    I'd add a glamour wardrobe where it saves unlocked Glamour's that you can pick and choose from.

    I'd make it so everyone has one armor piece for each slot that they always wear. You then unlock upgraded stats for each job through consumables. You'd roll on those consumables now like you roll on gear. (I.e. a drop would be ilvl 210 upgrade (JOB)). Once you use it, your weapon is set to a 210 minimum.

    Then there would be horizontal profession stats. So I have +100 crit unlocked, +75 SS etc etc. I'd get to choose to use 2 of any that I've unlocked. I'd also add more flair stats, that just changed how effects work or possibly how you do your rotation. Naturally, the better side stats would drop from the more difficult content (like maybe 60 CRIT drops at Rav, 90 CRIT from Thordan EX, 105 CRIT from A3S or whatever)


    Essentially, there would be no items but your character simply unlocks stats, effects and Glamour's and let's you piece them together.

    I feel this would drastically decrease server load from the inventory system and allow for more customization, greater simplicity and fewer inventory problems.
