[Patch 3.15] Mac OS X Yosemite Update Error

    ————————————————————————————
    Hi there!

I play FFXIV: Heavenward on my iMac (specs below) since my PC died. I was pleasantly surprised to see that there were changes being made to this version, as it was atrocious in comparison to the PC version given how buggy it was.

However, after following the instructions laid out by SE, I am currently experiencing the bug wherein FFXIV won\\'t open after being reinstalled. I have tried to reinstall several times and restarted my Mac to no effect. My OS is indeed the current version, so I cannot update it further... If I continue to use Yosemite. So therein my question lies: Will I need to update to OSX El Capitan to continue playing? I\\'m reluctant to do so given its poor reviews when it comes to performance issues. Any insight would be appreciated!
    ————————————————————————————
    Mac Specs:

    OSX Yosemite
    Version 10.10.5

    iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2012)
Processor: 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5
    Memory: 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
    Startup Disk: Macintosh HD
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M 512 MB

I am having the exact same issue on my mac.

I've downloaded the software 3x now and each time, after I download and put the application into my applications folder and try to launch, the software verifies and then nothing happens. The weird thing is that the mac thinks the software is running, because it will not let me drag the app to the trash. The software however can not be force-quit as it does not show up in the force-quit application box. The only way to remove the software is to restart the computer and then trash.

So, right now, I have no way at all to play FFXIV which is incredibly frustrating. My mac spec's are below as well.

    OSX v 10.9.5 (not Yomemite)
Macbook Pro, Retina, 15" Late 2013
    2GHz Intel Core i7
    8GB 1600 MHz DDR3
    Intel Iris Pro 1536MB

Mine as well sadly, exactly as described! I'm not really sure how to report it either? I regret getting it for my mac at this point. I've been playing it just fine until now when it forced me to uninstall and reinstall.

    My specs

    OS X V 10.9.5
Macbook Pro Retina, 13" Late 2013
    2.4 GHz Intel Core i5
    8GB 1600 MHz DDR3
    Intel Iris 1536 MB

Adding my name to this list as I literally just did the update and cannot launch, which is more than infuriating as my game worked superbly before.. This update essentially broke something that worked for me. Rather annoyed is an understatement.

    Specs:

    OS X Yosemite 10.10.5
    Macbook Pro !5-inch Early 2011
    2 GHz Intel Core i7
    8GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB

Seems like it only works on Mac OS X El Capitan 10.11.x... It worked for me there...

When i tried on Yosemite, it does exactly what you guys are describing, launches and remains resident but does not do anything, no launcher, no game, no luck... You can use Activity Monitor in your Utilities folder to see FFXIV running and doing nothing. You can also Force Quit it there, without having to restart your computer.

    UPDATE!

Go to System Preferences > Security and Privacy > General tab...

    Allow apps downloaded from:

    CHANGE TO: Anywhere

    Save and close System Preferences.

Kill FFXIV if its currently trying to run...

Launch it again, it should now work.

Seems like they didn't get their certificates right on the App. So Gatekeeper is blocking it. Good Luck!

Well, looks like I'll be backing up my laptop tomorrow and gambling with the devil again. When I updated to Yosemite it broke my screen and I had to send it into repair.. So you can say I'm a little apprehensive :P Once I do that I'll update here of my findings!
