My 'defense' is that I'm actually enjoying it. I understand that plenty of people aren't but I am. I respect the opinions of those who are unhappy with the situation even if I don't agree with everything they say. Please return the courtesy.

Last time I checked, anyone can level all classes, and even switch specialties, if they really want to do all by themselves.
So, I suppose raid weapons should do the same. After all, raiders put a lot of effort into them, so they should be eternally rewarded for that, right ?
uhm, hellboy is rightLive report from FF XIV forums! This is Laurelin Kementari for Independant News, here to give you an update on the developping situation concerning the 3.15 relic discussions! Latest report suggest that forum member Hellboy-sa made a dive towards the point but missed it in an absolutely spectacular fashion. The point sailed over his head and was last reported going into orbit around Jupiter. We will continue to monitor the situation and bring you the latest developments! This was Laurelin Kementari, back to the studio!
back in 2.1 everyone complained that the relic is too hard, titan too strong, only elitist can get it, why cant we have a grind to settle fair conditions?
there were tons of threads and complaints about the "too high difficulty"
thats why they made every step a grind + it revives old content
I've actually seen this happen in other games I've played, that's the sad part. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they did something like instantly demolish all houses currently in the game (as an example off of the top of my head), and I would fully expect a large chunk of the community to vehemently defend it.
I still love how both sides think the forums is a large chunk of the community. Like the Relic or Don't like it stop with this high level of exaggeration on all sides.
A few of you are about to get into the level of insulting each other that gets you banned. Then you'll have someone post how you got banned for no reason.
Just a warning

I really think we should remove "content" that several people find a chore and not fun...
In one week, you could shut the game because EVERY content would be removed...
Would it make you feel better ?
We relic-grinders like it. You don't. Deal with it.
Live report from the danger zone! It seems the missing of the point is caused by a form of disease that is apparently contagious, as it is spreading and has already claimed another forum member by the name of ServerCollapse, who's failure to grasp the point was per chance even more spectacular than the one only a few moments earlier, as well as several other unfortunate souls. No authorities were willing to comment on this new development and SE continues its radio silence. Tensions and panic are on the rise! We will continue to monitor the developping of the situation. The dev team have glued their fingers on ctrl, c and v but the PR team is amazing, gotta give it do them. You've got this borderline cult of Yoshida, the belief that the more money they'll spend on the game, the more funding it will recieve (and use it to justify anything), I've read people believe Yoshida when he says that he'll never let the game go F2P like he'd tell his costumers to drop the sub and just wait for the game to be free (and like he has any choice in the matter), now there's this new narrative of the dev team being a small group of geniuses whose limitless talent is being held back by SE, not to mention the 2 years old excuse of the miracle they pulled with AAR (guess what, if they didn't suck so much in the first place they wouldn't have had to), PS3 limitations...
They'll believe anything as long as a community rep tells them it's good for the game, even when it's painfully clear it's not.
If next patch you start over with a lvl1 character and no items or gear you'll have people call SE generous for making us revisit the storyline and leveling without having to make an alt.
People say it's something to do because others are whining that there's no content left for them. These relics are implemented, literally, to give us something to do while the new content isn't flowing.
People are crying that they don't have any content to do but then cry when they give us something time consuming to work on. The relic isn't even difficult. In short, if people's argument is the "lack of content", they're going to get the response that actually, there is content, you just don't want to do it.
As another player said, if you don't like it, that's fine. You don't have to do it. But respect other people's opinions who do like it and stop jumping down their throat. Some people enjoy it and they have every right to.

Whilst it's great that you're enjoying yourself, your join date implies you haven't been playing all that long.
Those of us that have been here since launch have been doing this for over two years already. The expansion added nothing truly new, just more of the same. The relic is quite literally just a copy and paste job of the 2.X relic before they nerfed it. The devs are just recycling content and on top of that the patches are being delayed whilst becoming smaller and lower quality.
It's fine for you because you're new and you can't see the cracks yet. Those of us that have been here since the beginning can see how incredibly lazy the devs are being and we're tired of it. They are NOT putting our subscriptions to good use.
Grind is NOT content. New content would be new places to go, new enemies to kill, etc. This relic quest is having us redo OLD content hundreds of times. It's added nothing new, nothing to do; it's simply a carrot to keep us playing. Please don't confuse the two.People say it's something to do because others are whining that there's no content left for them. These relics are implemented, literally, to give us something to do while the new content isn't flowing.

Most aren't even complaining about the grind anyway. The fact is, given the time the third stage of the relic will take to complete, most won't finish it before 3.2 renders the reward obsolete. What's the point in a grind with no reward?
