They listened to a lot of our feedback, actually.
People said requiring Titan was too hard, so no hard to clear fights are part of the relic quest anymore.
People said they didn't like running the same content again and again when everyone was farming light at Garuda, so this time, SE created a system where you could choose yourself which content you'd like to do.
People said they absolutely hated going through whole dungeons only to get cheated by the RNG god at the end, so this time, we just have to go through dungeons without having to hope that it somehow leads into progress.
People said they hate RNG in general, so this time, there is an elaborate token system in place that lets you work your way up in a slow but sure way; and the only remaining RNG-based step became skippable (along with droprates of crystals that are nowhere near as bad as Atma droprates were back in ARR).
This is a classic "Be careful what you wish for" situation. Yes, relic quests are generally tedious and boring these days. But they are, partially, because the forum once went through an incredible whine period back when people couldn't get their relic because of Titan.
That there should be new, interesting content involved in getting the relic is a valid complaint, but it's also quite unrealistic, since creating new trials, dungeons and raids requires a lot of funding, manpower and time, and they are already pressed on all of that going from 3.1 to 3.2.
The fact that the dev team tends to listen (and sometimes even reply) more to less panicky threads should tick you off on that it's probably not the most wise move to create a plethora of doomsday threads shouting "I'm unsubbing!" and then still being around months later, as we've seen again and again here.
And again, I never said there aren't honest concerns or that there aren't things they need to fix - in general and even particulary about this relic quest - but the way people are doing it is having the opposite effect of what they hope to achieve, because 1. pure whining and theatening is not gonna help to find the flaws, it 2. also drowns out the comments that ARE trying to be helpful by showing a breakdown what they consider wrong with content XY, and discredit an entire forum to the comm reps by acting in a way that is just downright embarassing sometimes. Especially those unsubbing theats, they only work so many times until you realize those people are still around after their 5th threat, so you can basically do whatever to them because they won't leave anyway, no matter what they tend to say.
