c) The relic quest is litteraly copy-pasted from what was implemented in 2.0 (which kinda already caused an uproar).
d) no new content is tied to the relic.

People were expecting more, SE didn't deliver.

These two, among others, telling why we're upset. Yes, it should be time consuming, but it shouldn't be something we autopilot. There is no skill required.

They wanted to increase the activity of the HW content that everyone is already bored of and stopped running. Fates were dead, let's do atma again! They're complaining about queues, let's make HW dungeons required! (funny because most of that queue issue is their fault >.>) Specialists want to be relevant, let's make crafted items required! Nobody runs Alex anymore, let's make them do it 1000 times!

Worse yet, eventually that relic will become the best weapon. If I remember correctly, we had the same issue with High Allagan weapons and the Zeta. They had to go through multiple patches to make the relic better than the end raid. I'm just waiting for when we have to collect dragon tears and six different kinds of blood to be forged into one gem.
