I actually enjoy reading all the complaints, like I said most are justified but some are pretty ridiculous. Of course its going to be a long grind.. its relic. But it could have been a grind where you actually need to use skill rather than just time to complete. What is wrong is not that they give their opinion on content, what is wrong is the incredibly hysterical way it is done in.
I'm by no means saying the relic quest is perfect, there are quite a few things about it that I dislike as well, but the problem is that a constructive discussion is no longer possible with the way people are acting.
I might as well make a new rule for myself. Instead of the old "Never play on patchday." one, I'll go with "Never visit the forums of a game on patchday."
There is nothing wrong with making your displeasure known. Really that is part of the communities job. But I can't stand people running around the forums yelling "The game is dead!!". It's not. Take off your tin foil hat and post something more constructive. Every time I see a post around here that tries to be constructive it gets surrounded by pointless complaining.
People don't come to forums to praise. I see lots of people happily grinding away. That's why gaming forums give nasty impressions of games that leave a sour taste in your mouth because only the people having a bad time post as the majority.
Ingame, the shouts and partyfinders are full of people doing the relic quests. Of course, not everyone is absolutely THRILLED at the prospect of grinding out their new weapon for the next weeks and months to come, but for most, it's just a natural part of how things are supposed to be. Relics have always been grindy, and no one in their right mind expected there to be no or just a tiny bit of grind involved this time.
The problem I have with the way this is treated in the forums though, is that rarely a legit complaint is made. Of course there have been some - like how there is no real incentive to do them when there is a lack of content to get ready for, since Alex Savage has been given up on by the majority of players (no exaggeration here but official numbers). But they get lost in this giant wave of "Kyaaah I hate you all SE, Yoshi you failed me, how dare anyone makes me grind for something more than 3 days!". And nope, that is not a legit complaint when relics are SUPPOSED to take a while to finish.
Most of you guys saying that the grind is fine are at i170 to i200, you guys haven't really started the i200 to i210. The HQ items needed are from specialist, which one character only has up to 3, the materials are easy but they are gated behind master/specialize crafters. Its only a matter of time before people get burnt out by the same process. And No, saying that while the old players leave and new one comes in is not a viable solution.
It'd be funny if the people here right now who are saying that 3.15 relic grind is sane and at 4.0 after the same repeated process they'd be the ones criticising relic grinds.
And you post nothing but unfounded, overblown statistics. Yet we're supposed to believe YOU instead? Thanks btw, for calling me a liar while making broad and completely unfounded statements. The hypocrisy is real.
Well you seem to have the knowledge about what people are enjoying, let's give the new relic grind some praise! What is your favorite part of the last step? I can't even decide, so much new, fun and innovative stuff. I hope WoW doesn't come along and steal this fun gameplay away. So yes, let us hear what you think is good about the new weapon grind?
IDK man I've lurked around alot and this forum seems overly negative on just about anything and then most posters are really quick to jump down others throats for not joining in on it or quick to pull the "oh you white knight" card like the guy right under your post. I am pretty sure everyone is aware the game is not in a great state atm and I for one can agree with quite alot of the valid post against the last part of the relic quest It honestly feels like to much for something that will be replace. It would be alot better to swallow if they toned it down abit and relic actually carried over progressing with the player in its own way atleast that's my opinion on that.
OP might have been abit hyperbolic but alot of the posters here (from what i see in most threads) are just 100% angry and bitter about everything.
I would say there's nothing wrong with them. It's not so much the fact that it's a grind, it's the fact that it's every single grind people hated from 2.0. That's not to say Relic shouldn't take time to get, it certainly should, but they're going overboard with the likes of after all the new atma, and the dungeon clears, you then need 20 of each of 4 new tokens, and 4 HQ crafted items that require several different specialists. The last bit is the real sticking point, the grind for tokens would have been more than enough, but then they chose to tack on the crafting requirement that will lead to things such as RMT on smaller servers. You can argue that they should just move to Balmung or Gilgamesh for fair prices, but no one should have to abandon everything they did just to get the "charity" weapon that Relics have been since 2.2.
