It gives me a goal, something to do with friends, and it doesnt require me to meet stupidly strict dps checks. I guess if you dont have friends to do the chain with, it might be boring, but we are enjoying it.
A3S and A4S are goals that are newer content (even if i dislike a4s design and alex's overall story). You call them 'stupidly strict' DPS checks and while i wish there would be more than just DPS check fights, its still not stupidly strict I'm not sure where that criticism comes from. It encourages you to learn to play your class better and better. I did it with friends and it was tough and some left and it was frustrating, but when i finally got a4s down i felt like i accomplished something that took skill and effort, not just a length of time with button mashing that required little challenge on content that was up to a year old. I'm really, honestly struggling to see how that is a preferable choice for "fun"
And that is it right there, people like you don't honestly care about the actual quality and fun of the content that is coming out, the people like you seriously just enjoy your friends and hanging with your friends and playing the game doing things with your friends. There is no quality expectations for you because to the majority of players that play that way you play honestly don't care what the update gives because you are just in it for the social/friend aspects. For those of us that actually genuinely care about the fun and quality aspects of the updates this update in particular was a major major slap to the face.
Oh really? I stopped raiding because alex wasnt fun.. Coil was fun. Crystal tower was fun, void ark, not so much. Step 1(i170) and Step 2 (i200) is fine frankly, but i200-i210 is somewhat obscene. You need about 630 successful alexander runs (including the law option), which many players dread going back in there. Why players are unhappy because they want to see change, not something thats almost 90% similar and how the things they have introduced to counter certain issues.
Alexander NM has been somewhat dead for awhile, so they introduced this to relic. HW's Fates are dead so they introduced atmas in the HW maps. And lastly having specific HQ crafted items to give crafters a chance. But, on smaller servers with lesser veteran crafters the prices for these items costs too much, about 16-20M for all HQ crafted items.
I don’t think it isn’t just the NA community that has something to say about this, the Japanese forums too.
Step 2 might be fine in context, but not when all it serves to do is literally to pad in a grind. It doesn't help add life to 2.x dungeons because it allow for unsync (which is faster if you can even two man it together). Honestly, the 2.x dungeons weren't needed and they could've done fine with all 3.x dungeons and EX primals.

I do not question that you and a good amount of people are having fun. I myself enjoy the game very much as well and have since beta. But you can not actually realistically tell me that the new relic grind in itself is a good thing. Can you have fun doing it? Sure. Does it actually push the game forward and provide anything "new" or "innovative" that enhances the game?
You realistically can not tell me this new grind is "unique" or "fun" in and of itself because there is literally nothing new or innovative about it. It is simply cut to make players grind out 1000 of the same dungeon over and over and sink millions of gil blindly into crafting mats for one piece of gear that doesn't even dare risk giving anything even remotely unique as far as abilities go. You can honestly not tell me that design such as that is "GOOD" for this game or any game. A grind CAN be new and fun, when it feels like a grind just to be a grind then it stops being a game it becomes a job.
