"Fun comes first"

in all seriousness, not sarcastic at all, but where are you finding the fun in this game right now? where is the fun in this relic chain?

Playing the Main Scenario/Side Story quests to follow the plot, playing/interacting with different people as I enter a dungeon/trial/raid, watching players rant, hanging out with my friends, hunting, Gold Saucer, GLAMOURS!
The relic chain?? I don't really care since I'm not doing it.

Thats just your opinion, nearly all of PF on balmung is relic related, so clearly its not the popular opinion either. My fc has been making fun of the forums for complaining so much about the relics, most of us are working on them without caring that its grindy

Strange almost every zone on Balmung has someone complaining and people agreeing with them. Also people questioning the thought process of repeating an old system. Balmung has enough old players from other MMOs they will buckle down do the crap and live with it. How many crabs do you think the combined population of Balmung has put down in their day?

It gives me a goal, something to do with friends, and it doesnt require me to meet stupidly strict dps checks. I guess if you dont have friends to do the chain with, it might be boring, but we are enjoying it.

A3S and A4S are goals that are newer content (even if i dislike a4s design and alex's overall story). You call them 'stupidly strict' DPS checks and while i wish there would be more than just DPS check fights, its still not stupidly strict I'm not sure where that criticism comes from. It encourages you to learn to play your class better and better. I did it with friends and it was tough and some left and it was frustrating, but when i finally got a4s down i felt like i accomplished something that took skill and effort, not just a length of time with button mashing that required little challenge on content that was up to a year old. I'm really, honestly struggling to see how that is a preferable choice for "fun"

Agree so much with this, who the hell in their right mind would enjoy something as mundane and boring as this. There's nothing new, nothing innovative and quite frankly just dull.

I mean, I think that about sports games and FPS', but they are the most popular

The previous relics were at least doable in a timeframe that gave you a couple of months with the weapon. Unless you grind this weapon out non-stop for the next month you will never get to use this relic before 3.2 gives us better.

It was like this with atmas, and nexus, and zodiak too, and the game didnt decline or lose subs, even though the forums were just as ragey as now.

Because those steps were released beside other content.

And that is it right there, people like you don't honestly care about the actual quality and fun of the content that is coming out, the people like you seriously just enjoy your friends and hanging with your friends and playing the game doing things with your friends. There is no quality expectations for you because to the majority of players that play that way you play honestly don't care what the update gives because you are just in it for the social/friend aspects. For those of us that actually genuinely care about the fun and quality aspects of the updates this update in particular was a major major slap to the face.

Oh really? I stopped raiding because alex wasnt fun.. Coil was fun. Crystal tower was fun, void ark, not so much. Most of my friends have stopped playing since Alex didnt meet their expectations, so yeah, I'm a bit happy that we can do the relic and enjoy it

Um, no. Everyone cares about the fun and quality of the game, the thing is though what YOU consider fun and enjoyable may not be the same for the other player. Everyone has their own reasons for what makes FFXIV fun.
