is this game near the end of it's life?

I got 2 accounts, but what comes out takes no time and is no challenge. Its like, grind for this weapon and do what after with it? I dont mind gringing this is anal grind all old shit over and over no thanks.

I can keep myself really busy in game, doing non fun things

I apologize, I was presumptuous. In fairness though, I did specify (though perhaps not well enough) that I could not claim to speak for the JP playerbase. At most, I was extrapolating on things that I've heard consistently lurking in other gaming communities (supplemented by my own personal research with more reliable sources). However:

The problem is old players with old accounts you have done everything. People joining this year well they have tons to do still. Sorry buy legacy players dont make up the majority base anymore. There are tons of new players daily that will have ALOT of content to go through.

When you have maxed out every job at 60 then ya I can see why you would be bored. Perhaps its time to move on as you aren't interested anymore. But your disinterest does not speak for everyone else that still enjoys the game for what it is and doesn't hate it for what it isn't. Thats on you.

As for the relic quest thing, I gave that up a loong time ago because it was too tedious. I know if I didn't want to do anymore grinding, I definitely won't do a new relic quest just to deal with it again.

With this in mind, XIV will never be like XI. I don't know how good XI is since I wasn't in the MMO world during the time and I'm not saying that XIV is better than XI because it has its flaws-even though I still can't figure out myself what is wrong with the game like how most players are nowadays, lol. There's something for me to do every time I log in, but that's just me though.

I won't bash on anything;

Played since v1.21 onward and give or take some of the absolute hardest encounters I've cleared much of the content available and honed in on the things that I enjoyed.

I was waiting to see if Relics would give me a reason to get back into the game - and they're not. So I've cancelled my sub for the time being.

FATEs have been done ad nauseam, Old Dungeons are equally blown-out in terms of interest, and current endgame content was not fun when it was released. Diadem was fun initially but has devolved rapidly into content I'd rather avoid unless I'm paired entirely with a group of reliable friends.

What I am looking for is no longer present in FFXIV and so I'll step away until I see something that captures my interest and entices me to sit down and devote time to it. There is no doom here; but I do have a certain amount of gloom seeing the lack of creative growth going on with the expansion. I feel like there has been a lot of repackaging and copying done and that's just my opinion.

The way SE reskin the weapon is really hurt my eyes. I really hate the SCH book that looks same with Omnilex. Totally turned off for me :/

Okay, I've seen enough of the "it's for the new players! they'll have lots to do!" excuse. Someone list me all of the 2.xx content that new players can do without

-being told that it's not necessary so they can just skip ahead and maybe come back never
-entering the fight and then have 7 other overpowered players beat the fight for them in a couple minutes
-not being able to enter the fight because there's not enough people queuing for them

I want to see this number vs the number of total content.

There's a reason Asian MMOs are infamous for being grindy.

While it is true, that asian players like grinding, it is not true that they like the FFXIV grinding.
The difference in most JRPGs is that you grind for progress while in FFXIV we are stuck on same level and are grinding outdated gear.

I say they did no 3 well. They amazed me with what they keep pulling in 3.xx so far. Although baffled would be more fitting.
