Multiple relics?

So I am a little new to the whole relic grind (stopped at books last time). I can't play until later but I am curious about one thing: can I get two relics at the same time? For example can I have two weapons at the same stage while doing the last stage grind? Can I have one just one step behind? Or do I have to fully complete this patch's quests to start my second weapon? Thanks.

can't have them on the same stage, but you can have two on different stages. though once you get to the last stage it's the same thing anyway, you just need double everything.
