Maybe they should have required Thordan Ex and some savage clears as an equivalent to the HM primals. But that's too hard for most people (even if A1S is pretty easy now with the gear we have, basically titan hm difficulty in 2.0 imo).

The difference is that 2.0 relics, particularly the first stage, launched with new content which at least dulled the sting of grinding. People have been running Alex for months now, the beast tribe dailies even longer, and the level 60 roulette for law is just neverreap/fractal. There is nothing new or interesting or innovative. The only thing SE could have done to be even lazier would have been to just sell gobdips in idyllshire for 30k Law. Oh but no we get a few cutscenes, joy of joys.
When people complain about 2.0 relics, they don't complain about the first stage because it was actually fun to do. You can fly through it in an hour now, but on release it was difficult and took a lot of time. Chimera and Hydra were unique instances exclusively for that quest. You had to fight the three Primals again but they were completely different fights than in the story, and their inclusion made the Relic quest feel tied in to the main scenario.
This new relic is some straight up Korean F2P MMO bot farm bs. At least when XI made you farm 30,000 whatevers it was for a weapon that would be BiS for seven years and fundamentally changed the way your class played. Here it's just for whatever, do you have anything better to do? May as well do more of the same shit you've been doing all year.
Sometimes I wonder if some people on FFXIV forums aren't SE bots accounts, made to defend content implementation. That's exactly what those people do not understand. It's not about the grind, but about the fact that there is _nothing_ besides the grind. Not even an entry trial like the Chimera for the 1. Relic. I don't understand how anyone in their right mind could possibly defend this.
No one is saying give us the relic for no effort or just give me weapon now...no people want what we had with the first relic actual trials, raids that made people work together to over come a big challenge...what is so challenging about grinding the same things over and over?
The relic is meant to be a sign of you conquering challenging trails given to you...not the fact you have more time to spend in game then other players.
I'm just disappointed it's all the same content we already had to do. Atmas, dungeons runs, gc seals items...It's nothing new. It isn't even a challenge. It's not even a new kind of grind, we're grinding the same things AGAIN. I'll do it, but it won't be fun at all. I just wish we had new stuff to do instead of redoing everything all over again.

The problem is not doing 1 relic, it is doing multiple relics...if the content is boring, grindy and lackluster people will only be willing to do it once...and a small minority will do multiple. If they keep it like this is needs toning down for the first steps, id expect these steps for something like the Zeta.
I agree with you. There's really not enough constructive criticism in all these threads popping up. If they really think there's something that bad then why not put out alternative ideas on the table. I, however, completely feel like Anima was a fair sort of response to old complaints about the former Zodiac quest, more recent complaints about having nothing to spend time on and those of Savage being too hard. The grind in this doesn't even seem too bad for that matter.[1/4]Achievements are subjective, so yes, this is an achievement to some. Most of the people complaining have taken one look at the phases and decided "nope", come to the Forums to whine about it with no constructive feedback other than the one thread I've seen, and will probably go ahead with the relic anyway after threatening to unsub. I don't know why people think this is any more grindy than what they've been doing already.

Already I've heard the crystal drop rate is better than atma was post nerf, and the second step is unbelieveably simple considering you get an i200 weapon out of it. To be honest I probably would have switched the step order looking at the ilvl of the rewards for each, and had the step where you traded in your Zeta be the second one.
I think that the inclusion of options this time for the grind is pretty great. Beast tribe quests, Hunts, Alex normal, daily roulettes, old content for tomes... No matter what you're into there's some kind of thing for you. It would be nice if there had been something to make the current primals a bit more lively, or Coil, but I hope they have plans for something else regarding that later. Anima is also a time sink not too unlike the length of time it took to get through certain stages of Zodiac and whatnot.[2/4]
Anima is definitely a weapon geared more to the players who don't spend too much time raiding, focusing on the patience required for leveling other classes, or gathering, and the technical skill and time put into crafting. Those looking for something to fight for their relic could just go back to working on Savage for the Eso upgrade item or Gordian weapon if those achievements satisfy them. [3/4]
