Version check issues post-patch

My FFXIV launcher is having version check issues after I enter my password. I logged in yesterday without issue. I've purged my temporary internet files, restarted the launcher multiple times, and restarted my computer, all to no avail. Picture of error message received below.



Reinstalling FFXIV was not how I wanted to spend patch day. Any other potential solutions?

Gave up, started reinstall. Will update if this fixes the issue.

It's just what I wanted to do this patch! Download the entire, 24-gig game on a 8Mbps connection! Yaaay!

...okay, but seriously. This idea only dawned on me after uninstalling and reinstalling, but maybe you can make a backup of the entire game minus the launcher and boot, and reinstalling into that? I'm not sure how to explain that well.

Nope, but what you can do is if you have a friend with a working installation, they can zip their "C:\Program Files (x86)\SquareEnix\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn\boot" (location assumes a standard non-Steam PC installation) directory and send it to you.

Make a backup of or rename your boot directory just in case, and unzip the one they sent you at the proper location. It fixed my client, and I even used a copy of the Steam boot folder on my regular non-Steam installation.

I am having the same trouble with the update from today I have reinstalled the program am still getting the update error

I had a similar problem, and after scouting some Reddit, this fixed the issue for me:

Navigate to your game folder Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn\ open up FFXIV_BOOT.cfg in word pad or notepad.

You should see this:

Language 1
Region 2
EulaAgreement 1
StartupCompleted 1
B4EulaAgreement 1
BootVersionCheckMode 0
ConfigReset 0

Change the bold line from 0 to 1. Save, exit, boot and the launcher should force a check. There might be some different lines too, but just change the bolded one and boot the game. It should force the version check and let you download the patch.
