It's a strange reason to avoid adding something. Just because a minority of players would abuse it there's plenty more who would make proper use of such an emote - and if they're truly so worried about people doing 'naughty stuff with emotes' then they head to Balmung and investigate the culprits standing around in the Quicksand. That's where those sort of players gather - but I've never seen anything done about them.
I'm pretty sure a few other MMO's have 'play dead' emotes anyway.
You can already get pretty terrible screenshots with /psych, /doze and /surprised, but I don't see SE doing anything about that.Miqo'tes and hyurs have it worst. /scarred4lyfe

Are.. are you being serious? Any of that can already be done via text and /sit if people wanted to. That's a really flimsy excuse imo. >_>

Maybe it is. Though I'm open to new emotes, even the faceplam idea, but some just don't want it and for many reasons. Kinda like how people completely sideswiped the Child Race idea. :/

While at it, a gobal skill to kill your character would be fun in raids, since it's no use going on with both healers or tanks dead, why not kill yourself in a funny way?

Yes please! In FFXI finding dead people in Lower Jeuno was hilarious. It's impossible to kill yourself in town in XIV.

That was usually the result of a failed Dynamis run - it was hilarious to suddenly see a big pile of bodies materialize on the steps to the Residential Area. It's just an extension of seeing someone who failed a duty here, although it was far more extreme then.
