In a raid setting I see nothing bad about resetting our cooldowns.
I can only see good things come of this.

Every1 waiting for this qol.
It really shouldn't be a difficult change since they already do it for Wolf's Den.
Questing is like participating in an Old Spice Commercial - Talk to me, talk to him, talk to me, talk to him, Now Talk To Me...Sadly, you are not done, back to him, look there, its that mob I never liked, back to me, back to him...I'm in the Waking Sands.

It makes no goddamn sense that they haven't done this. Like maybe back in 2.0 you could say that they don't want you just blowing all your cooldowns on the trash (lol) and then getting them reset for the bosses, but they don't even let you fight trash in Heavensward raids. They just skip you right to the boss because they didn't want to put checkpoints in.

Bumping to keep updated.

Haven't they been saying they'd do this for like a year?
WoW does it IIRC. It can't be that hard.

I thought they said they'd "think about it".
Maybe. MAYBE they haven't done it because resetting cooldowns will speed up progression. Which, if true, is sad that making progression slightly longer is more important than the quality of the raiding experience.

The devs have always cited balance reasons for refusing to put this in (and taking so long to implement zero-cooldown for changing jobs in all sanctuaries).
The only balance reason I can think of is potion abuse by gatherers - pop a cordial hit a node, instant queue a raid/trial as a full group, leave instance, oh look potion cooldown is reset and no penalties. and if it worked unsynced? oh baby wouldn't even need a group to abuse the system.
Could make it so cooldown release wouldn't kick in until at least a 3-minute battle (like Echo), but regardless cordials seem a likely culprit.

Um, considering we're talking about cooldown reset upon wiping, you'd have to go in and get killed to abuse such a thing. Waste of time and repair. The devs have always cited balance reasons for refusing to put this in (and taking so long to implement zero-cooldown for changing jobs in all sanctuaries).
