Again the same kind of "event" ... thats just a seasonal quest... a 1 day thing, not a REAL event MMOs usually do. Events need to be an option to take players out of routine, a new reason to log every day, to get nice stuff doing fun things. FFXIV "seasonal events" sucks

on an other MMO I played (on Beta it was, during dec 2012)
We players could defeat a Santa Clause looking mob walking around the maps! the reward was xmas outfit, or a timed transformation to a xmas based charackter, or even gears! The santa was NOT rare! every1 could find one during 5-10mins

They're all unique events each year without the nice gear being locked out behind some cash shop purchases like some F2P MMOs I've played? If that's the case, then it's impressive.

I don't know what MMOs you play, but with both WoW and Wildstar the seasonal events have always been rather tame and with WoW they're recycled year to year for the most part.

All previous item events are available for free because they didn't add new event items, or rather, very, very rarely do. But that could be compared to this event I suppose, very lackluster rewards.

I don't mind this years glamour items. The dyeable beard is great for the guys who have been wanting stuff & more facial hair options. Maybe next year you'll get dyeable chest hair to match!!! :O

And I love the indoor items, can't wait to make my house & FC house look festive.
Although I also share the sentiment that the hoodie the miqote girl is wearing would have been awesome to get, it's not a big deal since guys needed some love for one of the seasonal events. Last year was totally girls with the cute dress, so that means next year is for us ladies again! lol

GW2 one isnt. All events, even major plot ones, are mostly an excuse to sell stuff in their gemstore.
