Any word on red crafting scrip cap?

Apologies if this is in another thread. I didn't spot one when I looked through earlier. I'm just curious if there's been ANY word on easing or eliminating the red crafting scrip cap?

I know they're planning to do something to gathering, but the crafting one needs some love too. With the current system it'll take me 3 odd weeks just to get the 180 tool for ONE of my 8 crafters (I've been insane enough to level them all), and when I do the math for how many weeks it would take me to gear them all out I get dizzy.

So if anyone has heard anything please let me know! I don't want to spend 52 weeks+ grinding crafting scrips for all my classes! ><

That's only one way to gear up.

The other way is much more time efficient and involves gathering classes. namely MIN and BTN.

As it is currently, it is possible to have multiple main-hand crafting tools assembled in a single week.

Or the long route that takes less work. Namely what you have been doing.

I have both MIN and BTN leveled up as well. What is this other method?

Red scrip 'favors'. The red scrip (gatherer) tokens can be traded for favors in the n/e corner of town.

You farm items from the favors, and trade specific sets for unique material. (ex: purified coke is used to make Adamantite Ingots, a core material in most 2 star tool recipes.)

Of course mastery III books are required to make the 2 star gear. But the i180 tools are meldable, which means they can become best in slot, even above the 'keep' gear you have been looking at.

Okay, so you're talking about the crafting version. It's one I've been looking at, but even with the serpentskin set in HQ I don't have the craftsmanship or control to pull off 2 star. Do I have to meld that out or something first?

Yep you need to meld pretty much using all available slots to be able to 2 star if using serpent skin set, there's a few guides on materia builds like budget set and highest set you can meld, it viaries but myself have all main hands and offhand for craft and 2/3 on gatherers, downsize is you can really efficiently gear gatherers job if going down the favor route unless you have an alt that could gather favours while using main to gear from red strips for gathering classes

Nope, no alt to do that with. I'll try looking for guides on melding sets though. I don't mind the extra work for the HQ 170 crafted set if it means I don't have to spend over a year grinding freaking red scrips. Because, I'm sorry, that is all kinds of stupid and ridiculous.

You could always get the normal 170 set for WVR, LWR and etc... so that you would be able to craft the HQ versions later. If you got MIN and BOT, it'll only be a inconvenience for the moment. It doesn't take that much to gather favors, the hard part is the crafting; I can already get 8/8 with what I already have.

Another possible strategy is having a friend craft you the off hand and MH, than you just need to use seafood stew HQ to hit the requirements for 2 star crafting. You could then meld your ilvl150 gear with as much CP as possible and start turning out more ilvl170 gear and negate the need for costly forbidden melding. Then you can just meld on the ilvl170 gear and save on materia and gil.

Diadem should also work well. Gathering for steel spoils you can trade for the items you would normally gather under the favor. Plus the brass spoils can be traded for singles of the crafting mats directly.

60 steel spoils (+1 red craft scrip token) gets you 15 NQ
30 steel spoils (+ 1 red craft scrip token) gets you 5 HQ
8 brass spoils is 1 NQ.

That way you can keep your gather scrips for their tools, and don't need to bother with the RNG of successful gains using the favors.
