Why I will not be paying until 2.0 (Constructive Criticism, Sqare Please Read)

    First,

Let me say I have checked up on this game every major patch. I WANT this game to be GOOD. I want there to be players in it. I want an active world I can escape to.

I think several things in this game are good. I could go on listing these, but this post is about what I think NEEDS to be fixed by the re-release.

Before I get going on my suggestions. I would like to say I think it is ridiculous that Square is going to charge for a game its own producer admitted is "half way to be worth calling a Final Fantasy." I've read all the arguments, and no, I do not want the game to be free forever. I pay for MANY mmos, usually at the same time. But, this is not a complete game. Period.

    Lack Of Gear

The first thing I would like to address, is the severe lack of gear. Specifically, I play a THM. But, I think its ridiculous to get to max level, and not have a "set" of gear that I can work towards. There are random pieces of gear, the dev team has thrown in, to make current players happy for now. I understand this is probably being taken care of on the remake, but once again the whole game is being remade but yet we are being asked to pay for the broken game being left behind?

Materia System makes RARE/EX pieces worthless

The second thing is how the materia system currently works. I think it is a GREAT idea. It was just very very VERY poorly implemented. First, I should not have to trade my gear to someone to get materia put on it. This is absurd. I have to risk getting my gear stolen, just to get materia put on it. Furthermore, I can't put materia on my "end game gear." This is so absurd I don't even know how to express it. Any level 40 piece of gear, with ONE piece of materia on it, will be better then ANY rare/ex in the game. Not to mention, you can put up to 4. (yes I know you can lose your item) This, HAS to change. Either, materia needs to be made worse, or you need to figure out a way to let people put it on rare/ex items.

The only dungeon in the game, is incredibly dull and designed to not fight mobs

My last major reason I am not going to pay, is because of what content actually exists. I finally got around to going into the 45 dungeon. And, what can I say, I was morbidly disgusted. First, of all, we didn't fight anyone but bosses. This to me is stupid. Now, you could argue "thats just how are group decided to do it." But, its clearly a design flaw. We might have been able to clear the first boss if we killed the mobs. The 1 hour time limit is puzzling. Why limit how long people can do a dungeon? Especially when its the ONLY dungeon. Also, having gear come from chests just encourages people to skip the content. MAKE people kill someone for their gear.

Anyways, these are my three main reasons I am not paying. Obviously there are other shortcomings of the current game. Which I could go on listing forever. But, the dev team are remaking the game to fix these. And, I fully intend on paying for the game when they are fixed. But, right now the dev team itself has admitted the game is basically "half a game." But, they still want to charge money.

What I have shown you is reality. What you remember, that is the illusion.

gear obtained from defeating an enemy directly shouldnt be more valuable than the materiad ones. And you are wrong, ifrit weapons outclass weapons with 2 to 3 materia on them, which are actually going to be more rare.
So in the future it is likely that the best super drop items will be better than most normal materia gear, Most likely the best of the best gear will be gear crafted from NM parts and materiad. I wouldnt mind some sort of junction system for some materias, or the ability to materialize Raid drop gear, but it would have to have some cost, and at the end of the day not displace every other part of the game, ie materia, gatherers, and crafters, which is who would suffer if pure drop weapons are the best gear in the game.

Far as armor, we still havent got access to all the armor they have developed since day one, and while some are interesting, id say overall most of the sets dont have that much pop, however, the job concept art looks great, and im sure there will be some reskined and tweaked versions combining all of what they have in the game, so you gear problem will probably be starting to be solved in 1.21.

far as the dungeon, i had fun in the low level, havent tried the high level one yet, pro tip, leet parties will tend to kill most the fun of a dungeon if left up to them. Still i would hope the encounters only get better and more entertaining

anyhow you got your reasons, maybe it will be better for you later, if not, well thats how it be sometimes. You got to do what makes you feel good.

I agree with a lot of what you are saying. Except, the Ifrit thm weapon is just not better then adding materia to one. This probably not the case with melee weapons with attack dmg ranges. And also, when I am talking about RARE/EX I specifically mean the ultra rare stuff from end game content. And, imo that SHOULD be the best in the game. It always was in FFXI, it is in every mmo out there. Why not in ffxiv?

And, I truly hope they do get the stuff out, I think the jobs look great to. But, that is months away from when they want to start charging money, which is an issue.

Dude, did you read ANY of the recent translated interviews with Yoshi?! You aren't paying for this game you're basically paying for the 2.0 patch! Do you realize that SE has LOST 9 BILLION yen in this fiasco?! I know that's not our problem but FFS man, they have busted their ass to keep you playing which looks like you are. They are building a brand new GFX engine, new servers and doing this at the SAME TIME they add upgrades/patches to this game!

If you don't want to pay then don't but QQing about it isn't going to change SE's mind. They need our funds to finish what they started and after reading the 3 interviews that Yoshi gave, I decided to stay and pay.

for a long time in ffxi it wasnt the case, a lot of the best gear was crafted. The gods would drop a nice peice, but the real useful stuff was the abjurations, which required a crafted item. It was their way to mingle crafting and endgame, but thing to remember is crafting is a much bigger part of this game, even as they scale it back it would still be an extremely hard hit, if all those 50 levels of crafting and gathering became virtually useless.

The ifrit weapon could be better designed for mages, but at this point thats a little tricky, because its a class item, and classes dont really have defined roles yet. I mean they cant throw healing magic bonus on a conjuerer weapon, because conjurer is not a whm, though it may later have access to that skill set. In any event, id say your concerns are valid, and i think that they will solve some of them, though i cant say those are the deal breakers for me.

This is what concerns me about the community. B/C I come back at patches and see whats up. I am considered QQ'n for bringing up that the game is not up to specs. And you claim Square has "lost" money. EVERY game company puts huge investments into games. Square on the other hand released their game prematurely. Got HUGE amounts of capital. And then went back into a development stage. So, you can claim they are "losing" money. But, in fact its called investing into a product.

And quite frankly, it concerns me how unopen alot of the community is to negative feedback. I think alot of the community doesn't even want new players playing the game.

I agree that they will solve them. This post was about why I am not going to pay right now. Its making the developers aware. And I promise you, there are other people like me. Square is about making money like every other company. I just want them to know why they are not getting any more of mine.
