Muramix is the Goblin that starts the materia chain of quests. You can find him north of Black Brush near the column of smoke. He's at the top of the hill at 20,29 with his posse. When you say you can only find Grade 1 do you mean near Humblehearth? The area you'll need to gather at is right near Humblehearth, not in that general area since it shares the same area of the map with Bentbranch, which is all Grade 1.
