Let me introduce you to a game known as warframe(also known as ninjas in space) the basic premise of the game is to level and customize your character in order to kill your enemy, in order to do this, there is a list of requirements if you want to progress to the highest level without buying anything from the store (it is a free to play game with an in game cash shop, after all)
1. Acquire (and level) a warframe
This one is given to you right off the bat, you are given a choice of three warframes to choose from, any other warframes must be built from scratch. this entails having to choose the boss that drops the specific parts and farming it until RNGesus decides to bless you with the desired parts. this grind ranges from: five minutes and done to Jesus christ how horrifying. once you have acquired your warframe, you must level it to level 30 and infuse it with an item (also built from scratch) that will double the mod capacity on it in order to have the most freedom in creating your dog of war.
2. Acquire (and level) a weapon
(please note this is not the same image)
Once you have leveled your warframe you must acquire(and level) a weapon. Admittedly, the grind for the weapons are much easier. The materials for the creation are much easier to farm than the bosses, and you should be able to afford a weapon within a day of grinding. After keveling your weapon to level 30 (did I mention there is primary, secondary and melee in this game?) you must infuse them ALL with an item that will double their mod capacity in order to have the most freedom in customizing their mods.
3. Acquire (and, you guessed it, level) the mods
these are what give your weapon flavor, their effects range from benefits such as elemental damage, reload speed, mag size, max ammo, raw damage, all that good stuff. but in order to unlock their full potential, they must be fused with something. You can take the lengthy (and expensive) route of fusing in junk or duplicate mods, or you can grind for fusion cores, which will give a much larger bonus compared to mods.
4. Acquire (and level???) formas
these components are not the items which double the mod capacity of your warframes and weapons, these items will give your mod slots polarity (the small icon in the top right corner of the mod card which will reduce the cost of the modification by half( if the correct polarity is placed) or increase the cost by 2 (if the polarity is incorrect) in order to min-max your prefered weapon, at least two of these will be required. Also, using a forma will reset the level of the item TO ONE.You will have to REGRIND THE ITEM TO LEVEL 30.
This Is what I consider the basics of warframe. Everything from this point on is optional (in my opinion at least)
5. The foundry
all the materials that you have grinded will be used to create god knows what in your neverending war against the GRINEERRRRRRRR, did I mention that every item has a build time that can range from 1 minute to THREE DAYS?
6. Companions
pets that follow you around and provide various benefits with their own set of mods (wont link an image cuz you already know what to expect by now)
7. potatoes (not lalafells I promise)
Remember those Items that double your warframes and weapons mod capacity that I mentioned a few paragraphs back?
Those items can only be acquired through RNG or alert missions (think the relic book fates prenerf and ten times more rare.)
8. last,(but not least) syndicates
Do not be fooled, what you see in the image is exactly what it looks like, you have to grind out faction points daily and once you have reached the limit, you must sacrifice something (usually currency and an item, this item can range from easy to acquire, to exceedingly rare) once you advance a rank, your faction points reset and you must grind all the way to the next limit (70k is my current limit, once I reach the next title, my faction points will be back at zero and the limit will be something like 100K)
And what would be the point of all this grinding you might ask yourself? THERE IS NO POINT TO IT ALL
For the longest time, this game consisted of no endgame bosses to fight and it was essentially killings adds till you were diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome. this game is just one huge grind for the sake of grinding. And yet, I would rather play it than final fantasy XIV, because even though its a huge grind for the sake of grinding, the grind is FUN (in my opinion)
Anyone who has played this game can voice their opinion on the gameplay, but for me its fast paced and fluid. The new movement system that was added only makes the game that much more enjoyable in terms of mobility. Even though the game is such a grindfest, It really does deserve the title ninjas in space because the gameplay makes it feel like just that, ninjas in space.
Thats where XIV relic grind fails. I dont want to do fates, I dont want to do dungeons, and I sure as hell do not want to set foot in alexander normal mode at least 400 times. I dont need a 210 weapon that will be irrelevant in a month. I would rather spend my precious time Kicking thordan in his dragon's eyes 130 times to get all the heavensward weapons, because regardless of what people might think, the fight is a spectacle to behold. Sure we have seen all the mechanics in the binding coil, but don't tell me you don't feel on the edge of your seat when your attempting to dps while avoiding mechanics with the chorus in the backgroud.
The relic grind is not fun, plain and simple, there are fun grinds, but this is not one of them
TLDR
pls read my paragraphs, I made a joke in there somewhere![]()
