Fixes for missing DLL after Windows 10 update December 2015

Hi! My computer just updated Windows 10 and .... lots of errors loading. Missing DLLs again that I thought I fixed already. This happens with European windows not having these DLLs due to international copyright problems. These are the missing files:

WMASF.DLL
WMVCore.DLL
mfperfhelper.dll

This is the fix (If you had them before the patch):

1. Go to your File Explorer > This PC > C: > Windows.old > WINDOWS

These files live in two places: System32 and SysWOW64. System32 is generally DX11, and SysWoW64 is DX9, or so it seems to me.

2. Search for these files using File Explorer

3. Copy the file. Right Click it off the list and selecting 'Copy'

4. Use File Explorer again: This PC >C: >Windows

then paste to System32 or SysWOW64. This will usually require administrative permission on your machine.

Try this for each of the missing DLLs and you might be ready to go again.
I would NOT recommend reinstalling FFXIV since that is not likely to fix Windows errors.

For anyone that would like to prevent Windows 10 updates from updating their computer in the future, in the "Search the web and Windows" bar at the bottom type services.msc Run the program listed, which will require administrative permissions.

Scroll down the list until you get to Windows Update, double click it. Stop the service, then use the drop down menu for Startup type, and set to Disable. This will prevent all windows updates from occurring. If you wish to undo, repeat the procedure and change the startup type to automatic.

Hello,i have the same problem here but i made a search and i dont have a folder "Windows.old" on my PC,anything i can try to resolve this

While I hate Microsoft as much as the next person, keeping it updated is kind of important given it's the most vulnerable OS in the world. In order to stop Windows 10's shenanigans it's safer to just get rid of that particular update and keep it away (forever). I did this to make it go away. Hasn't come back yet.
