i started playing ffxiv when heavensward came out. I only started playing triple triad to get the beast claw for glamour purposes. i kind of want that mount but at 1 million mgp that is ridiculous. i can farm 12000 mgp in 2 hours. it is feasible but now worth it in my opinion

It's possible to do and people have done it already. I'm missing less than 200k from 1mil. If you don't want to do it, then don't.

It's meant to be a long term goal, not something you grind your ass off for (although that is an option). In just a few months I made about around half a million MPG with the mini-cactpot, although I'm more lucky than most with that thing. With the weekly Gold Saucer log, just do the Mini-Cactpot with the log and you'll get it in 6-12 months time with relatively little effort.

Mini cacpot is my only source of mgp - now you can do it 3 times a day chances are pretty good. You get dry spells, but you can also get 20 or 30k from it on a lucky day. I've bought both dances and the new bunny top from mini cacpot winnings alone. Not doing it is throwing easy mgp away!

If you're super lucky, you can win 30k mgp in a day. If you're not, you can either lose it, get a few hundred, or get a few thousand.

The Mini-Cactpot is the best MGP reward for the time spent. Also, I agree that 1m MGP is a lot and they probably should lower it at some point, but not until they add other high MGP cost rewards, otherwise players might not have enough ways of spending their MGP. What point would there be in winning the Jumbo Cactpot if there wasn't anything exciting left to buy? Not that I'll ever win, I've matched 1 number once since Gold Saucer came out LOL

I'm like than half way to "Mountains out of Gil-hills" Achievement for gaining 1 mil from mini-catpot. I only even do mini-catpot when I remember. Sad thing is that I spend most of the mgp for cards and silly stuff cause I never thought I'd get a million either.

I haven't bought the Fenrir mount yet. Triple Triad cards have been my priority for now. I spent like 500k MGP to get Zidane and I'm still trying to get Warrior of Light.

Probably 90% of my MGP comes from an activity that took the devs less than an afternoon to program. People can talk about "long term goals" all they want, but the gold saucer is lousy when it comes to rewards. A majority of MGP gains should come from the content that consumes a majority of the development time.

If you train your chocobo while racing, you will spend MGP faster than you earn it from that activity. It takes hours of triple triad to earn the same MGP that I get daily from mini-cactpot, and I'm expected to spend that on random packs of cards while hoping for a rare one? And don't get me started on the 1 million MGP Cloud card which is fundamentally no different than any easier to obtain 5 star card.

The gold saucer games that take the most time to develop eat up more MGP than they award, so you can't expect to enjoy those activities while saving for the big ticket general items. In the gold saucer, time does not equal fun, which kind of defeats the point in my eyes.

I think there should definitely be some things that take a long time. Most things are cheap/fast, but you have a few prizes that take a big effort and that increases their rarity and makes them feel more special.
