BLM : need some rotation help

    hello,

a friend of mine is having minor issues with her lvl60 rotation.
her ilvl is 170 right now.
when i compair some outher black mages compaird to her. it seems her rotation is kinda wrong.
example she hardly uses fire4 while i see outher blm using it.
i looked up some guides but according to her their "impossible"

anny1 who could be so kind to drop here an nice and easy rotation for her to learn.
    manny thanks

She can start off slow before moving on to the more complicating F4 rotation.

    The simplest one is:

Blizzard IIIThunder I → Enochian → Fire IIIFire IVFire IVFire I Fire IVFire IV Blizzard IVBlizzard III: Repeat Fire III/I/IV/Blizzard IV until can't refresh enochian anymore(up to about 3 refreshes). This is actually the core rotation when you don't have Sharpcast/Leylines/Convert ready. It's probably the complexity of the opener that is scaring her. No BLM can constantly do the opener because CDs and such.

Doesn't take in account for procs though(TIII:Thundercloud would be tight I think, but I always use Firestarter before going into Blizzard IV), but that's what I used for a while before moving on to the opener. The beauty of the core rotation is you don't need Quelling Strikes, but once she familiarizes herself with the opener, 5-6 Fire IVs in a row are going to rip aggro without it.

I always use Thunder 2 instead of Thunder 1. Does either or make any difference in the long term?

The 20 extra potency + 3 second timer increase may seem good but when you're racing the Enochian clock, every second matters. T1 is great because of the short cast time and that it shares the proc rate (10%) with the other thunders. The potency/duration loss may seem meaningful, but with the core rotation the 18 timer fits nicely, expiring when you go into ice.

She needs more SS, and needs to practive. She shouldn't be using procs, until she's more comfortable with the core rotation and enocian timer. She should also practice openers. There are a few different ones.

FIREIV is your nuke spell basically and should be used otherwise the dmg will be low. After practice you get the timing right were as enochian does not fall off. Sharpcast is also great to use. Aikaal has a great guide that your friend may find of interest. It is more complex but with practice it is ideally what a blm is looking at in terms of rotation for end game.
I also prefer to Use Thunder 1 over 2 and T3 is not at all used anymore (casting it i mean)
Also to note potency of thundercloud proc would take priority over say a FIREIV because of potency.
SS>Crit> other stats, at least that is what i prefer in hw atm

How do you cast Blizzard IV without casting Blizzard III first? o,Ô
You need to be in Umbral Ice to cast it. So shouldn't it be Blizzard IIIBlizzard IV at the end?
Or am I completely stupid right now?

No you are right, it should be Blizzard III>Blizzard IV, but i am pretty sure its just a typo from Twilite.

    F3 > F4 > F4 > F1 > F4 > F4. That's the core rotation they should be fitting into every Astral Fire phase.

You can spice it up with spell speed and cooldowns in your opener, but beginner BLMs should just focus on nailing enochian management.

    Other tips:
Always re-apply thunder before Blizz IV, unless you think Enochian will drop off. Ideally refreshing Enochian is the last thing you want to do in Umbral Ice.
Thundercloud procs are a straight dps increase over F4, however you want to avoid clipping the dot by too much (ie. two thundercloud procs back-to-back is a dps loss. You want it to tick 3+ times).
Sharpcast should always be paired with a Fire 1 at the beginning of Astral Fire (F3 > Sharpcast F1)
Ley lines should be used to get the most out of Raging Strikes, and then whenever it's up while you're waiting on RS. Just don't be silly with the placement, it's not an excuse to stand in fire.
I like to open with B3 > T2 > F3. Umbral Ice speeds up the cast of F3 and you'll be at full MP for your opener. But some BLMs don't bother.
