BLU wouldn't fit in a MMO setting like this game. Last time it came up the stance was how it'd be interesting for solo play but would cause problems in a party setting, hence not practical. Only way I could see it working is if they redesigned the concept, like how SMN is a DoT class and DRK is a magic using Tank.

RDM and BLU can certainly be worked into this game. The results after doing so will not make everyone happy. Because, frankly, you CAN'T make everyone happy. Too many people will be hung up on what they believe to be the REAL way RDM or BLU should be presented - which pretty much translates to whichever RDM or BLU was their favorite in the history of FF games, given that both jobs have had a variety of incarnations over the years.

If you boil either job down to the common elements they share across FF's history, there's PLENTY of room to build from that and create a job that will work in FFXIV.
BLU: Learns spells that are enemy abilities. This one would be EASY to adapt to this game.
RDM: Can cast white and black magic and has some melee ability. Trickier than BLU, but still doable.

It won't be too drastically different from earlier Final Fantasy games, it just won't be as luck-based since the job quests will coordinate it. Only XI arbitrarily limited the amount you could access, and that was only because of the sheer volume of Blue Magic spells compared to earlier titles (100+ vs. the ten or twenty in most titles).
