Honestly, my FC members and members from another nearby FC chat pretty often and visit each others' houses. I think that if there were more FC's in the surrounding houses (instead of them being personally owned) that there would be more interaction at places like market boards/summoning bells; basically the same places that see a lot of traffic in towns. I often craft out near the market board and summoning bell or up at the vendor simply to see if I can garner any casual conversation with people as they wander by.

I do wonder if this could be a culture difference. Japanese gamers actually like exclusivity, whereas Western gamers utterly abhor it.
I never really thought of that (I don't know much about Japanese culture tbh) but it's a definite possibility.
