Retainers - not only lazy, but yet unoriginal

I really need to ask this to the community, as i feel a little paranoid.

First, I really welcome that my retainers now got off vacation and stopped bringing me fish and nothing else from quick ventures. I really feel now the system was bugged (read broken) before the patch hit, since it was really once a hundred times they brought something valuable.

Since Patch this really turned, my BLM Retainer by now brought me a full kirimu set for example.

But then I observed something I find really odd, which just happens like this all the time.

- Retainer brings in $ValuableGear.
- I look for $ValuableGear on the MB, find out that it has (1-5) listed, all worth about let´s just say 500k
- I rejoice, list it for 500k and wait.
- next day I check if I sold it, there are about 100-200 of the same item listed, price drop to 10% or less.

This happens so all the time.

It´s like ALL the retainers have timeframes where they say "hey, it´s 12 pm, theres a sale on 110 Glamour Gear, lets get it for my Master"...

Call me paranoid, but it happens ALL - THE - FREAKING - TIME

I don't think there's any formula that has the server's retainers all bringing back the same item, but the prices on a lot of that gear have dropped considerably because of their availability in ventures, for sure.

500k here and there adds up quick, been making 500k-1mil a day from ventures roughly which is fantastic considering I'm only spending 2 minutes max per hour on it

My retainers like to screw with me. Either they bring me the fish I could catch within the first day of playing the game, or they bring me the high value items that are only high value because no one wants to buy them. I have so much gear sitting on the market right now that just refuses to be sold. Level 50 iLevel 70 gear I can understand, even if it's only worth like 2-3k since that's useless except for glamour, or trade ins. Getting "valuable" crafting materials on the other hand that refuse to sell after a week or so, and I think my retainer deliberately picked those because the sell rate was so low....

Why don't you gear your retainers up and send them out for Exploration ventures? All the retainers have the chance to bring back minions, how many people have a Gestahl? Gear your retainers up and increase the chance they bring back good items.

Oh. My fishing retainer does. I got both my Fat Cat and Ghestal minions from him. That's still just one retainer, and gatherers are the easiest to gear up since you only have three or four pieces of gear that matter for them, (barring melding gathering materia on gear). My other two retainers, (I pay for one extra purely to allow for easier organization of gear), are combat classes though, which are a giant pain to get geared up without spending ESO/LAW to do so simply because RNG is random. Finally got my level 60 one to i170 tonight so I can send her out on Exploration ventures, but my other retainer is only about level 30 so he won't be bringing back anything of value outside of luck with Quick Exploration....

I think I know what you mean. The quick ventures have started providing almost constantly high level goods since 3.1 dropped. This has caused previously valuable gear, like the Kirimu stuff you mentioned, to tank in value.

It may be gambler's fallacy but I'd previously see something really valuable maybe one in every 20-30 ventures, now it's very rare to *not* get (what were) valuable stuff. I've got screenshots where 4 retainers were on Quick Ventures and all 4 brought back something that made me gasp, even those at low level. It wasn't a one off either. I'm not saying they're bringing back i150+ stuff but I'm seeing 2.x 3* crafts & materials, along with rare dungeon drops, very regularly.

I've noticed the very same thing. It seems as though if your retainer brought something valuble back the exact same thing was brought back for a lot of other players as well. I find it very interesting that there were 7 throne gems on the MB and when my retainer brought me one back and i try to sell it the next day there are over 25 new ones listed.
