You don't even need to join a bigger FC. Just keep an eye on Party Finder for Diadem HM parties.

How do you get the item for HM if no officer from FC is on? Can you buy them on MB?

Try asking someone in the party if you can have one or see if they will sell you one for some gil. Most people tend to be accommodating when it comes to this. I personally carry a stack on me and hand them out for free when people need them.

That's not a solution, but a forced necessity if you want to partake in the Diadem. Unless you find a PF group.
