Not quite what I was thinking.
Your player can be "lit up" in the settings menu in a sense, as for them to radiate light? That would get annoying rather quick I'd imagine, and you would immediately have a few dozen threads requesting the ability to turn this off. We're not playing an MMO made in the early 2000s that compensate for bad visuals with for overly flashy items.
Uh, I don't really see the point to this? But I mean if someone wants to look like they've drowned in Goobbue snot more power to them.Tangible Toad saliva paint (idk make a name, maybe Goo paint): Paint that seems to come off as you move but never leaves the armor.
Don't see how this would help in anyway, all that information is presented nicely in the nicely in the UI.Battle Conveniance paint: paint that changes color based on your character's status. (bad status effects will show as purple) near death will show as fading red red, White would show as full health.
A hunt tracker may be useful, but considering the world is littered with monsters you'd be glowing 90% of the time.Awareness paint: Glows when a nearby monster is in close proximity (maybe for hunts, other monsters not so much :/ )
Could quite easily be done without creating an entire class, an example being WoW's "toys" where you use a consumable and that converts you to a character. As for transforming into an NPC, that's not going to happen as their intention is to sell NPC armour and hairstyles on the cash shop.Body Paint: makes your character look like a certain set of characters (all premade)
I don't really know, this class idea seems like nothing but a gimmick to me. It's a "I want this because it sounds cool, but I have no clue as to how it would function and what purpose it would serve" kind of thing. There are just many better ways to spend development time on that isn't an entire new class that could be minor additions to other classes, for example the "glowing paint" could be an alchemist potion that makes your skin radiate with a bright light (I'm still opposed to the idea in that it would be very annoying). As for armour, what possible armour could a Painter make? That brings me back to my other point, there are plenty of other options such as an Engineer, they could manufacture things ranging from airship parts, minions, toys, items that could be used in battle such as grenades, etc.
I feel like a negative nancy, but that's just my opinion of this whole suggestion.
