I feel like a healer quick on the buttons will have already cast the rez while your macro is going off. At least, this has happened to me numerous times while doing things like Void Ark. It always slightly annoys me because then it looks like the healer with the macro is the only one "doing anything" while silent ol' me is just as, if not more so, efficient. The "I'm raising this guy" macro warning usually always comes after I've already used at least my Swiftcast, if not actually fired the rez itself, so I don't think it prevents double-rezing as per it's intentions.
In regards to the effectiveness of mo macros, I use them myself on SCH, but only for the fairy Embrace ability because it's awesome being able to heal two targets at once with minimal fuss.
There's only reason I use it is to let people know I'm raising so they don't have to worry about it. And.. my macro isn't long or anything. I use Swiftcast and the hit raise, which just casts the spell and pops a message. I've never been out-raised by another person if I'm paying attention. Though it's not a race regardless.

I understood it perfectly well. I'm simply pointing out that I've never had anyone with a raise macro provide me with adequate warning so that I don't waste at least Swiftcast. The concept behind it (preventing double-raises) just doesn't seem to work because of the delay on queuing skills in a macro. Perhaps it works well for when your co-healers have slower reaction times; I don't know.
It wasn't aimed at you specifically. But to answer your post, cohealers that work together often, will often work out a soft raise order. And if one healer doesn't raise within a few seconds (perhaps busy healing, low on MP, whatever), then the other healer or SMN will then proceed.I understood it perfectly well. If 2+ people pop SC the very second someone dies--not even voice comms have that little latency.
It has nothing to do with any "delay" on a macro. Macro or not, you have to wait for the swiftcast animation to finish. If both healers have the same "reflexes", the resses will go off at the same time and it wouldn't have been prevented if neither healer had an announce macro.
And to reiterate what Vanille said: It's not a race.

To be fair though, there isn't really much of a warning that could be provided. Someone dies and you want to get them up pretty instantly. And Raise macros aren't really queued, as far as I know people aren't using a Swiftcast x Raise macro, just Raise with text, in which case the text is pretty much instant. That's the best your co-healer can possibly do in informing you that they are raising. In the same way, you should be doing the same for them.
It's all about situational awareness, sometimes I see the Swiftcast icon on a healer and know that I should probably just halt for a moment. The same way in which, assuming you're an AST main, you shouldn't be quick to Raise anyone if you have a SCH or possibly SMN in your party.
I've never used a raise macro. If someone dies in DF content, I check if the other healer uses their swiftcast. If not, I'll use mine or slow-raise the person. The party chat macros I see are usually too late for their purpose.
I used to have macros for virus and e4e and even a res one but in the end just to clunky for my taste so running macroless as far as any skills goes.
I'm farming Samarian title while watching people do boss fates and S ranks... for me it is a raceThere's only reason I use it is to let people know I'm raising so they don't have to worry about it. But yea agreed outside of that its only important the person gets revived at all theres no point to "race" for it.
